Why I love the Halo series?
- The expanded lore makes the franchise more interesting to look intoI always wanted to play Halo with my big brother. I didn’t get the opportunity to very often, but Halo 3 was undoubtably his favorite game of all time.
He passed away in 2009. I’ve played through Halo 3 each year, simply because it was his favorite game. It’s mine now too. That’s why I like Halo so much.
I also love Halo for it’s mysteriousness. You always get the sense that something bigger than you, a larger than life Spartan, is waiting for you to make a mistake and swoop in to destroy you, which was especially true in Forerunner areas in Halo CE. It’s general world is amazingly interesting.
I love Halo because it has given me the best time with friends I can remember. So many memories of huddling around a CRTV with cords and Xboxes all over the place. Good times, good memories.
My Friend, there are so many reasons. But first and foremost, Halo is the one series of games that manages the delicate balance between being a competitive shooter and having a fair Skillgap. If you play COD for example you can run and gun down even the experienced players very quickly. It just doesn’t feel right.
Halo is Love Halo is Live
When I bought my Xbox S bundled with Halo Wars 2, the salesperson asked me why wasn’t I in their video game discount program. I said that I didn’t need it because I only play Halo. I’ve played all Halo games individually, as well as in MCC. I’ve played Reach, Spartan Ops, O.D.S.T, Halo Guardians and Wars 2. I work in Graphic Arts and I’m very impressed with what Halo has brought to the table. I’m 64 years old and I really love Halo.
I love halo cause i spend a lot of time having fun with my friends. help me bond with my nephew and meet a lot of new and interesting people.
I could write a book on this question. But I’ll keep it short. Halo was my childhood. I picked up CE in 2001 and was hooked. Few other games could give me such a captivating story and no game came close to providing me and my friends endless hours of red vs blue shenanigans. In addition, forge, custom games, extended lore, HCS, and more makes it so I never get bored.
I love Halo because of the memories it gave me with my friends, and the memories it continues to create. Also it’s fun to play after a long day of work

I LOVE Halo because of the amount of lore everything has. From the heroism of the Spartans to the dark, shady business of ONI to the deepest of secrets of the Flood. Halo’s lore is nothing more than… honestly, I can’t even describe it. It’s a true masterpiece.
From the games, I love Forge mode, allowing everyone to share their own masterpieces and classics, endless creativity. Theather, looking for epic fails and epic wins. Custom Games, endless games, endless fun. From Firefight, I love dominating my enemies (or getting “Decimus-ed”(Decimated)).
I can’t express myself about this series in words. Just that it’s a Beautifully executed Masterpiece.
I wanna make it clear first off that I do not need the packs because I have all the Reqs unlocked but what got me hooked was the whole super soldier vs bad alien shooting game with humanity fighting against extinction. What got me coming back and back again wasn’t just the idea or content of the game but the memories and long nights spent playing with family and friends. That my friend is why I love Halo.
I first noticed Halo because an upperclassman in high school was playing CE on their PC. I hadn’t seen many video games for PC at this point, so naturally I was intrigued. I got a burned copy from him (later I purchased one legally, calm down), and played on my PC. The first thing I noticed that made me really like the game was the music. I’ve bought every soundtrack for every FPS Halo game (except for Halo 2A and Halo 5). That’s how much I’ve enjoyed the music. I would regularly play Halo 2 and Halo 3 OSTs on my stereo. To this day I still listen to the soundtracks multiple times a week. I like some tracks so much that they actually give me goosebumps. The piano riff from “One Final Effort” is my default ringtone.
I don’t want any packs.
I love Halo because…
It’s all I play!
For better or worse, they do not repackage the exact same game every time, so it is always a new experience to a great degree. Innovation is better than stagnation.
I love Halo for too many reasons to list.
I love it for its tight controls and mechanics, the expansive and interesting lore, the gameplay, the visuals, and the MARINES!
Everything from Jaime Griesemer’s “30 seconds of fun,” Marty O’Donnell’s scores and sound design, Marcus Lehto’s creative direction, Joseph Staten’s writing and crazy ideas to Jason Jones admitting Bungie made games they wanted to play and they were their own worst critics. Halo was created on a really strong foundation that everyone look back on with intrigue and fondness as well as move forward with inspiration and aspirations. There was something really admirable and engaging about the story behind the creation of Halo as well. Hands down, Halo has been one of the most influential and innovative franchises in recent memory: from bringing FPS to console, creating the various elements of aim assist that is still used today and a functional control scheme that has been copied by almost every other console FPS in the past 2 decades to introducing TrueSkill ranks, in-game friend’s lists, clans (and in-game clan lists), personal customized emblems, voice messaging, and proximity chat that were all introduced in Halo 2; map making tools on console and theater mode, file sharing, firefight and so much more over the years.
I love Halo because each title is different but each one feels the same. I’ve always like that about the Halo series, it wasn’t the same thing re-sold to us each release like CoD but the differences weren’t polarizing. Doesn’t matter if there is a lack of an AR, or no health packs, dual wielding, sprint, spartan abilities, power items, asymmetric maps or modes, you know it is a Halo game and it feels like a Halo game.
I love Halo because it is a community. So many staple multiplayer modes in Halo games started as custom games made by the community, Halo fostered and supported connections between players and developers over the years through listening to feedback and various analytic tools but also through simple means such as LAN parties, split screen “couch co-op,” posting periodic updates.
And let’s not forget the memories forged. Doesn’t matter if it lugging an OG xbox to a friend’s house for a late night of Legendary co-op, or turning the tides of an engagement with a BXR, exploring the boundaries of the maps with nade jumps, sword canceling, or flying-rocket swords, spending hours in custom games on headlong trying to get the “golden warthog,” playing a friend’s custom game of “tower of power,” laughing at Red vs Blue then playing grifball with friends, trying to get the haunted helmet, or a rank 50 halo, going clutch with the flag, with a sniper or a sweet sticky while solo or with friends in match making, yelling at Vale when your down and she can’t figure out what to do no matter how many times your press X, finding skulls, listening to Johnson or Stacker or the other Marines cheers and banters, we all have memories that have stuck with us. Regardless of what game you started with, I am sure everyone on the forms have a memory that sticks with them.
I know I am kinda rambling on and I have some run-on sentences but it is just so hard to articulate what is so great about Halo because its so many different things for so many different things. The creation of Halo games have been a labor of love that has been shared with its community over the years and that hasn’t been lost on us.
I love halo. For the gameplay (Even Halo 5), the amazing multiplayer with friends (Except you, 5, I need splitscreen), the community (This thread is an amazing example), the lore (ALL OF IT), and the damn fun experience. For as long as i live ill love it. GO HALO
I love Halo on multiple levels.
The story is rich with many layers and detail. The sheer volume of material now is incomprehensible to someone who first got the initial Halo paperback boxset and thought that was plenty. Playing Halo online gives me a chance to keep tabs on friends I’ve had to move away from and to also interact with new friends I’ve met online. Halo gives me a chance to decompress a couple of hours after hectic days and lets me blow off steam that I might otherwise not get to release in such an awesome way.
Thanks for all the hard work that goes into something that has grown exponentially in the almost last 2 decades its been around.
I love halo because of the fun time I had with friends playing halo 3 split screen on legendary with friends. also the comparative side of halo is interesting and fun to watch. The community as well isn’t harsh to new players in halo 5 like me. I can join Spartan company’s and make new friends. halo isn’t like other game sprinting wasnt always a thing way its has evloved with all the movement is cool. halo was me and most of my friends life in middle school.
