The differences between the two are huge as far what they are intended for. Though they might act accordingly I feel that Bungie’s Spartans were more interesting than 343’s. Simply because of a few things.
Bungie never threw theirs into some simulation, they were always out fighting against one another and not against some computer generated simulator. I felt they were more strategic and stronger in approach rather than their marine steriod enjected counter part.
Bungie, whenever they developed the designs made the Spartans look like they should, rather than what we are introduced with now. Bungie did amazing as far as something I have grown up to know. Playing as a real super solider.
343, on the other hand, made the Spartan’s in their own image, not once have I seen my Spartan on an actual battlefield, rather than a simulation, both Halo 4 and Halo 5 are nothing more than simulations and not fighting for real. When will my Spartan actually know battle with a real enemies and not AI’s?
Their designs in armor are more wrong than right, currently rocking the Nightfall and Noble armor because, well everything else looks just horrid. though I will give them credit, some do look interesting but sadly the rest, not so much.
343’s could do better with their designs and characters. Remove the current artist with someone who knows what they are doing and stop making them look like Star Wars/Power Rangers/Promethan Combo freaks. I want my Spartan to look like they should and what they are not.
Though I would like a Spartan 1337 voice over during matchmaking because i feel it would make for an interesting outcome during battle.
Its a game, its a simulation
Are fps game not just shooting simulators?
343’s Spartans do look like power rangers lol.
I prefer bungie’s spartans. Nothing against 343 but I think that 343’s spartans looks like Power Rangers on speed.

No. No they are not. Sorry.
I hate the majority of the armor designs as they seem impractical for the most part. Abdominal armor? Whats that? Shoulder armor? Not even once.
AS far as simulation goes, the wargames simulations are a canonical explanation as to why we have Red vs Blue Spartan battles. Prior to H4, no one really thought about why the Spartans were fighting to the death. OP, I don’t think they fought against each other as they were re spawning. Doesn’t really make sense.
I don’t really have anything against the concept of Spartan 4’s. To me it only makes sense that the UNSC would strive to produce more Spartans.
The armor is absolutely terrible though. Even the few good designs don’t really hold up when compared to the original Bungie armor.
I like Bungie’s designs for the armors. A lot more than 343’s. However I’m not too sure with the design and style of art they had going with Destiny.
Halo 4 had Spartan Ops. That wasn’t a simulation on the Infinity. So, your spartan has seen combat on Requiem, and that’s about it.
Osiris’ armor all looks great. Blue Team’s armor is also great.
I dont understand how having Spartans face each other in Halo 3 or having them face each other in “War Games” makes such a huge difference. I mean, you think your spartan is fighting on a battlefield or something. Unless you never died while playing the older games (not “War Games”), I guess you must be perfectly fine with your dead body teleporting somewhere else whenever you died. Ah, the real battles where the bodies happen to teleport and come back to life are always the most fun.

Well I understand that it is because of canon but honestly I would like to see my Spartan in a real battle in the next game and not a simulator, we got those in the past two games.
Sure they respawned but it would suck to die and then recreate your character over and over again.

Zombies at best
I agree that 343’s armor designs are terrible. But they are going in the right direction with spartan abilities and sprint. As for your complaing about War Games simulations, how the hell else are they supposed to train their soldiers?

You have a point there and I totally forgot about that part.

Well I think its time to test their abilities now, its been two games.
Bungies looked far better, but to be honest 343s wouldn’t look as bad if they would give us black undersuits
In game wise, 343i’s Spartans would wipe the floor with Bungies Spartans.
Lore wise, it’s the exact opposite.
edit^ this is what happens when you only read the OP’s title and not the entire post

Did we need canonical explanations though? Wasn’t " Red/Blue = enemy, kill enemy" good enough? Or how about Rooster Teeth’s explanation? Please don’t report me on that video though. It has language in it, but that is RT’s fault, not mine.
