So somehow I remembered that Bungie showed a video about what they cut from their Halos. In that video there was a gametype that they called Global Battle. Now, is Warzone meant to full fill that?
Here you will find the Bungie video (at about 1:54), and here is the Warzone trailer.
What do you think? 343 “stole” some idea from Global Battle?
SP.: Don’t think that I wanted to offend 343 because of the Warzone idea. It’s look great.
Well, even if they "stole " it, I’m glad that they did.
You shouldn’t be surprised that games in the same genre have similar features to other games in the same genre.
It definitely seems similar. Global Battle seems to be a lot larger in scale due to the scarab but we still haven’t fully seen all of the massive bosses we can fight in Warzone yet.
Lol definitely they eliminated the best parts

Ya,in a desert map, the was that big thing that was purple
Well Max Hobberman is on record in several recordings saying that Halo 2’s multiplayer was originally suppose to be an epic 32-player affair called “Warfare” and completely inspired by Bungie’s initial hopes and vision for multiplayer in Halo: CE. In the end, Halo: Combat Evolved’s multiplayer become what it was due to being a tacked-on last minute-like addition because they lacked the resources or time to really explore their initial vision for a multiplayer mode, but it proved to be a wonderful so-called “accident” in that it helped establish a strong foundation to build upon. Halo 2’s multiplayer like I said was suppose to be one giant non-slayer-based objective multiplayer mode called “Warfare”, but since Max Hobberman had built enough credibility and weight to his opinions at Bungie leading up to Halo 2’s development given his assistance on Combat Evolved’s tacked-on multiplayer he was able to persuade Bungie’s upper brass to allow him to take the lead (forming a small team) on expanding the existing multiplayer foundation from Combat Evolved and focus on creating an online ecosystem/experience. After Bungie’s top brass granted him that desire Halo 2 was suppose to have both the epic “Warfare” and their so-called “classic” multiplayer offering available in tandem, but as the development proceeded towards the game’s release the ambition for Warfare proved to great for Bungie so it unfortunately ended-up getting dropped in order to fully focus their attention on expanding the so-called “classic” offering along with their online ambitions. Anyways, just wanted to provide additional information on Halo’s history with regards to an epic matchmaking mode since it didn’t really begin with Halo: Reach’s “Global Battle”.
Unfortunately, Halo doesn’t really lend itself to “Global Battle” kind of gameplay on a multiplayer scale. The maps would have to be ENORMOUS, there would have to be hundreds of AI in order to for it to really work and for it to be fun. it’s probably why we never saw a finished product of the mode after they experimented with it.
To be honest, I was really hoping 343 would have given us something like this, but Warzone is a good start.
I do remember Bungie’s intentions for multiplayer, but I’m glad 343i borrowed or continued the exploration. I definitely don’t think the “stole” it.
It’s not stolen since technically the idea was originally going to be implemented in Halo 2. It belongs to the franchise. Not to mention the fact that Bungie went on to do Destiny without using that idea. It’s fair game.
