Bungie Screwing 343

We all saw Halo 3’s ending. No, not the Legendary one, but the ending with Lord Hood and the Arbiter.

Bungie wrapped up the story very nicely, ending it. “The storm has passed… the war is over…” But DERP, HERE COMES THE LEGENDARY ENDING!

Seriously, they closed the plot completely, no way a sequel could ever be made, but then they act like complete jerks, and give us this stupid cliffhanger ending with a glowing planet, and frightening music. In a way, Bungie screwed 343 over.

Uh, what?

Bungie’s ending was great. The reason it ended like that was to wrap up the Chief’s story; BUNGIES character. 343 could have gone and made there own complete new story ark and characters without the Chief, and just left him alone to let the player imagine for himself what would happen next with the Chief.

If you’ve noticed yet with Halo 1 - 3, Bungie likes cliffhangers and lots of mystery at the end of the games. It’s no surprise that they would do the same with Halo 3.

This.
Seriously, would you have liked it more if the setting for Halo 4 would have been “Chief is back, war still going on, Oh boy this sure feels lika a deja vu”?

Again, this. H3’s ending was simply awesome and the legendary ending left the doors wiiiiiide open for a sequel.

yea, if bungie hadnt made that legendary ending. then microsoft making a sequell would have been milking it, but giving the community enough reason to want another game, that ending, give MS an excuse to deliver.

The Human-Covenant War may be over, but the fight is far from finished. We knew this. The Halo Universe is far too complex to think it ends with the war.

I don’t think Bungie got a one-up over 343i for the Legendary ending in Halo 3. It was pretty cool in my opinion. Perhaps for making blue flames available on Apple hardware though? xD

It’s EXTREMELY unlikely that anything that occurs in this new trilogy is going to start the war again. That story arc is done, just like you said in your original post. This is going to be a totally different adventure.

halo 3 ending doesnt matterif they can still make halo 4

hmm.

As Cortana said, luck.

But no more luck as in he keeps getting drawn in to more wars and battles and enemies.

Still, what do you think? Was he going to sleep forever?

It would have at least been the perfect end to the Halo games. The first game starts with Master Chief coming out of cryo sleep, the last one ends with him going into it. Full circle, a poetic end. He’s lived to do what he was trained to do. Lived up to his purpose and fulfilled his fate, so to speak.

Master Chief going into cryo sleep and never waking up again, forever lost in the depths of space would have been the perfect ending if H3 really had been the last Halo game featuring him. Thankfully, it isn’t. =)

A better ending would be the Chief being ravaged by some flood.

I’m glad they made the ending how it is as 343 Industries can now easily slot in more Halo and that’s all I want more and more Halo to enjoy.

I totally disagree with the OP.

The Legendary ending was great and didn’t screw anyone over. If anything, it gave us hope that we’d see the Master Chief again.

thinks about it

No.

thinks even more about it

Hell, no!

The Legendary ending was great. It left things wiiiide open for a sequel. Serious, OP, all you’ve done today is bash the expanded universe, now this? C’mon!
