Link strikes again with breaking news!

Thanks, man!

Excellent. Now I do not have to worry about losing my 24 slots I use for my maps  Thank you for sharing this information.

With Bungie announcing that Bungie Pro services will be expiring with the switch over to 343i, what is the future of the Bungie Stats API?

Currently, you need to have a Bungie Pro account to have an API key, which allows you to develop 3rd party applications for websites, mobile apps, etc that pull in your Halo Reach stats, emblems, spartan images, etc. Will 343i be implementing the API as well? Will they be expanding it to work with Halo CE: Anniversary, Halo 4, etc? I did a quick search of the forums here, but didn’t see an answer if one has already been given.

No problem, I am actually quite pleased with this news. It’ll be great not to have to have a subscription, Although if anyone doesn’t have the DMR nameplate they might want to get it now. I know they won’t remove it but I’m not sure how you’ll get it if you don’t already before September.

Interesting news. Thank you, Link. =)

Because Bungie is no longer associated with Halo, all stat tracking will switch to 343i over time. I’m sure eventually everything that’s offered over at Bungie will be available through 343i.

I’m surprised Bungie is even keeping stat tracking and API support at this point. Maybe it’s just until 343i is ready to take full control?

When a switch takes place, it’s going to break a lot of existing applications that make use of the API. I would hope they could give us a bit of advanced notice so we could update our applications first, or have some interim period where both sources worked.

It went to 6 months? Last time I paid it was for a year.

This is a really good question. I would ask it here as well: http://halo.xbox.com/343forumsaccess/general/f/14/p/23238/180246.aspx#180246
Hopefully they’ll address it at halofest.

I think that it would be more appropriate to ask this here: http://www.bungie.net/forums/topics.aspx?forumID=3

They reduced it so you need to pay for 6 Months.

That’s a tough pickle to be in… I’m sure Bungie would like to dump Halo support, but I guess it’s things like these that forces them to keep supporting it. It would make sense for an interm period where both sources could work, allowing developers to easily switch.

Yeah, breakups are hard even if the relationship ends on good terms. lol
