Its not my idea, and I haven’t put any stock in it. Just posting an interesting video about the rumor to see if anyone has anymore in depth information on this.
The information is most likely fake - frankie’s neogaf post doesn’t exist. The screencap says it’s from Halo OT5, which was a thread made ages a go. Current OT on Gaf is like 21 or something. The post could well be legit but from about 2 years ago, cap has probably been shopped. There was another thread on this recently, I think the MCC forums. My thoughts? People trolling in the wake of all the MCC and Halo 5 issues. Nothing to see here

Bungie has a 10 year contract with Activision, how does Microsoft plan to get them back and why on Earth would Bungie go back to them after struggling to get free?

Bungie is signed to Activision for next few years and after that studio will be just a shadow of former selves.
Bungie has it’s cult of followers, but that’s actually a bad thing as bungie.net became another -Yoink!-. Also Bungie’s last few games were downward spiral. I get that some people don’t like 343i for some ridiculous reason (“because of sprint Halo lost 99% of online population!”) and some serious ones (like unpolished and mostly unplayable MCC), but Bungie? There are dozens of developers who would do much better job.
Nice try but they left. But at least they ended on one decent.

It’s not so much needing to research to know it’s false, it’s researching to debunk fully so that others will realise its a fake. A lot of people will take things like this as fact and there are some that would still believe it even after it had been disproven.

Why would it be worrying if that is exactly what they wanted people to do? Unless I read the post wrong, its purpose was to get people to stop taking every rumor and piece of speculation as fact. It would be equally as bad to think something is wrong without looking into the matter yourself, even if it is unlikely. It is also really easy to look into this stuff. Google is not a hard tool to use.
Assuming this was real, just imagine how awful it would be. It is laughable that any sane human being would want Bungie back for Halo. I do not hate Destiny, but do people here even acknowledge what it did wrong? Do people actually expect that Bungie would be any different in making another Halo game? I simply cannot comprehend why people want this.
I can agree with what the troll said about both companies, they need to step up their games.
