Bungie knew about the glitches?

Hi everyone.

I have this question in my mind for years, and haven’t find any answer yet.

In Halo 2/3 in particular, there is so many glitches/easterEggs like the scarab gun and the ball in Outskirt…
They can’t be placed there randomly, and I don’t think Bungie knew about all those glitched spots before releasing the game. I also don’t know/remember if they were put in the game after the glitch were found. Can you enlighten me with your opinion? or some article talking about it found on the internet (i couldn’t find any :’( )

Thx

I don’t think they expected players to really find them, especially the scarab gun. The soccer ball, I can see someone accidentally being launched into that area by some sort of vehicle explosion, but the scarab gun was probably added never intended to be discovered.

Why would they have even bothered? Things like the Golden Warthog, Scarab gun, The Flyable Pelican, and the Club dance party were invented so that people would try to find them. It adds a whole new level to the game. (I still wonder about that Warthog, maybe it’s there somewhere in New Mombasa.)

From a developers point of view it seems like a pretty fun idea just to put a crazy weapon hidden beyond the limits of the player. It’s probably even crazier when someone finds them.

I think Bungie created riddles about the flyabe pelican on reach and some players dug in the code of Halo and found the Easter eggs that way. Data mining probably finds most Easter eggs nowadays.
