If you’re still playing Halo CE on the PC then you’re in luck because Bungie is releasing a brand new update for the game! Here is the full details of this update.
Well this is awesome, I just wished that 343i was the ones saving Halo PC, not Bungie.
Agreed, I was pretty shocked to hear this news because Bungie know longer have anything to do with Halo, but it is nice to know Bungie still cares about a game that released so many years ago.

Agreed, I kind of figured that Bungie wouldn’t update Halo PC, since they’re done with Halo officially, but the fact that they’re still supporting Halo PC, and 343i hasn’t done anything, they haven’t even commented on the fact that Bungie is doing this. Which I feel really isn’t right, and it makes me feel more and more that 343i is focused on Xbox, and ONLY Xbox, and the PC community is the red headed step child to everyone including the Devs, it’s bad enough the Xbox/general community are stubborn and close minded about Halo and being on the PC.

Yeah, I totally agree, it’s not fair for the PC community to get left out, PC players are just so dedicated to Halo PC, and the fact 343 did not even really say anything about when the Halo PC servers were going to get shutdown is just really horrible seeing as 343/HaloWaypoint are now the #1 place for Halo news…
But yeah, like you said it seems like they are completely focused on Xbox gaming, but we all know its Microsoft pulling the shots here either way. =/

Yeah, it’s not really fair to PC players, and I love how in the rules it says we have to be respectful of other communities. But with the PC community being pushed to the side, and treated like we’re nothing, it’s causing the Xbox player base/community to act as if the PC community doesn’t exist and is a figment of our imagination, and it’s causing them to look down on Halo PC community members because 343i doesn’t even take the time to try and support the PC side of their community.

I’m hoping with the changes taking place in Microsoft with Phil Spencer, I’m hoping it’ll filter down to 343i, and other sub companies, and hopefully they’ll start doing more than just support Xbox. Only supporting Xbox isn’t making Microsoft as a whole money, just their Xbox side, PC games may hurt some Xbox sells, BUT, they help with OS sells, which Microsoft is also making money from.
I don’t want to rip on those guys at 343i who are in charge of keeping waypoint’s news up-to-date, but they’ve really been lacking, and it’s sad, it seems like they’re not as talkative as they should be.
Is is really great news! I’m surprised a developer from Bungie is actually taking time to patch Halo 1 PC. I guess they still do care about us PC gamers!
Now I have to ask, if Bungie is going to be doing this for Halo 1 PC, what’s the possibility that they can save Halo 2 PC multiplayer once GFWL gets shutdown on July 1st, 2014? I would think that maybe they might be able to save Halo 2 PC but it almost might not be possible since GFWL is incorporated into the game.

I’m hoping they do, and maybe do what other GFWL games have been doing, and moving MP over to Steam, I mean, why not, We have a Halo game on Steam, and it’d be awesome to have Halo 2 on Steam, and using Steam’s service.

Unfortunately I believe this might be the case for Halo 2 Vista.
Anybody have any idea where the hell we’re gonna get this update from? I downloaded Custom Edition from HaloMaps.org…
Pretty sad that 343 couldn’t do this. But I still welcome this nonetheless. Great news still to see this game receive updates.
Wow that is really unexpected.
@weird stealth - you bring up some good points about PC gamers and I too am guilty of not really acknowledging their existence. It is something I should really keep an open mind seeng as I started Halo on a PC…err a Mac, but nonetheless, I started Halo on a computer and not a console. Well, if 343i can do a better job at managing achievements for Halo games across multiple platforms (getting an achievement in Spartan Assault on xbox one counts for other platforms) than I don’t see an issue with having halo return to the PC.
Huh, very unexpected. Seems a little odd that Bungie, who no longer affiliates themselves with Halo, updated the game and not 343i.
> you bring up some good points about PC gamers and I too am guilty of not really acknowledging their existence.
Don’t worry, when you’re in a community that is mainly geared toward consoles, it’s hard to acknowledge the existence of PC gamers.
> It is something I should really keep an open mind seeng as I started Halo on a PC…err a Mac, but nonetheless, I started Halo on a computer and not a console.
It’s something that we all need to work on keeping an open mind about, no matter if we started on PC or console, no matter if we play only PC, Xbox, or both. It would improve the community if most of the community was more acknowledging and accepting of their existence.

Which is why just about every chance I get, I try to be a thorn in everyone’s side about getting Halo to be a little more prominent on the PC.
I’m hopping that in the future I’ll be able to get 343i to be a little more talkative on many levels including Halo on the PC.
