I think Reach was sabotage to the halo franchise. It was intended to be the downward death spiral for the franchise. They never gave that game support and they did an awful job of communicating with the fanbase. They wanted to pin this collapse on 343 to make themselves look better. Also, so they would have the ultimate 1,2 punch of COD and Destiny. I’m wondering if Activison and Bungie didn’t have this all planned out. They just delayed Destiny till 2014 so it wouldn’t compete with COD. Hmmmmmm? I’m hesitant to support them ever again. They will do whatever it takes to make money. These so called community lovers are fakes.
You’re insane.
Well the internet is the home for crazy conspiracies.
i think they’re just smart and made a lot of money…
they sold halo to 343: cha ching$$
now they are making a new game: cha ching$$
you see what im saying… instead of making one game, with a publisher that dictates everything, they sold it for money and now are making a game with a publisher that doesnt tell them what they can and cant do…
I just think bungie became tired of the Halo franchise. You can’t really be creative when working on the same franchise for over 10 years. Halo needed some new life breathed into it.
I think op is trolling.
That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if a large number of people on this forum actually did think this. Sad.

That’s not even how it happened, Microsoft owned Halo since the first game, bungie said they didn’t want to make Halo,MS said to make 2 more games and you’re free, ODST and reach happened, Bungie left, Microsoft made 343 for Halo.
When Bungie signed with Activision, one of the provisions of their contract was that Bungie could no longer provide support for the Halo series. As such, Halo Reach, support for previous games, was dumped on 343.
Alright, I don’t believe that. Maybe it’s time I get off the Internet for a while. I’m just boggled.
Well that would be one explaination as to why reach was a bad halo game.

This isn’t even a good conspiracy theory.
Reach was plenty creative and a fit parting gift from Bungie. The lack of support, if anything, falls squarely on 343’s shoulders, and they were busy pushing out H4.
I don’t think they intentionally sabotaged it… however, I can see them not caring about the legacy of Halo and testing out design concepts for Destiny within Reach without concern for how they fit into Halo’s sandbox.
At people bashing 343… they brought us Team Throwdown. They care about the legacy of Halo. Bungie didn’t. They refused to back down on even f’ing bloom until control was stripped from them.

Any idea about a company not caring about the legacy of their game is ridiculous. If a game does not do well, that will always be reflected as a negative mark on that company. Something as simple as a bad game can be the death of a developer.
Bungie already had the deal with Activision. They had a security blanket. Bungie also has a “mythical” status in gaming. Nothing they do wrong is their fault.

This.
Anyone that thinks Bungie did not care about Halo, or thinks that they would deliberately sabotage their creation just to spite Microsoft doesn’t know a damn thing about Bungie.
Bungie’s entire philosophy, as stated many, many times, is that they make games they like to play. When Microsoft wouldn’t let them do that, they left. It’s that simple.
Destiny will be Bungie’s poke in the eye for Microsoft. Not Reach.
I don’t think they sabotaged the franchise, but I definitely think that they were bored with the series and had taken it as far as they could creatively. Reach was their last game and they just threw everything at the wall to see what stuck.
In their Reach vidoc one of the Bungie employees (think it was Staten) said “Reach was the Halo game we had wanted to make all along”. Maybe he was just hyping it up but, in my eyes, Reach was muck compared to the original trilogy and ODST.
HAHAHAHA well it was a good funny read I’ll give you that much!
I think they did as well as they could have with the restrictions they had,
and like it or not they did evolve the game and add new features which I for one think were mainly beneficial.
