…Wow.

Bungie/343i. You’re jerks. Okay?

This works, and apparantly, Bungie/343i have had this working version of VIP Mode since HALO REACHES LAUNCH, and only NOW did they decide to release it.

Why couldn’t you have released this earlier? When the entire community has been clamouring for it? -Yoink!- it…

I can tell you now that is a modded gametype, elements of VIP have always existed in Halo: Reach, there is a hill marker in the middle of Powerhouse that has a VIP label on it.

It has never been officially released by 343i or Bungie.

> It has never been officially released by 343i or Bungie.

It’s not modded. It was on PartnerNet meaning this gametype was on Microsoft’s servers, which you can’t put content on unless you’re a game developer.

There is absolutely no reason this should have not been released. It works perfectly fine. Why the hell didn’t they release it if they had it? This really grinds my gears.

So it wasn’t ever meant to be put onto a retail console?

VIP was clearly cut from Reach, never intended to be put on retail.

Why the hell not? They clearly had a working version, it’s right here.

They released CHESS. they released SPEED FLAG. what was stopping them from releasing a FINISHED GAMETYPE?

343i is as much to blame for this as Bungie.

Your guess is as good as mine, there would have been so many gametypes made out of VIP, but there was a reason for them not releasing it.

Heck, you could PM some Bungie employees on Bungie.net right now, I know evil otto replies to PMs a lot.

EDIT: Chess was released, although it was unfinished, you couldn’t get a checkmate.
Speedflag was a megalo gametype.

It just comes off as mean to me by holding a finished gametype the community has wanted since launch. And now Halo: Reach is on Deathrow with H4 on the horizon, it would have been better to see this gametype a long, long time ago…

Just talking to someone who is into all this kind of stuff, he said that isn’t fully functioning at all, it still has issues like:

• Killing a VIP yields you 257 points, and vice versa for being killed by the VIP.
• The custom game options are missing, you can’t change anything related to VIP, only the basic stuff.

> • Killing a VIP yields you 257 points, and vice versa for being killed by the VIP.

the points are easily fixed, i fixed that just by adjusting the points :/.

you just can’t see the value you are adjusting, the numbers are invisible in the custom game options.

but that’s not an issue with the gametype at all. this has been the case for all unofficial options since halo 2. bungie/343i could have easily fixed it.

anyway, to fix the points, you just highlight the points and the arrow a couple of times to set it to 0 or 1. woop. : /

Doesn’t excuse how they released Chess which had 10x the amount of glitches this has, which is virtually none.

I understand on that one completely, to be honest, I saw Chess’ release as a mistake, they should have left it out if they couldn’t fix it.

VIP is still flawed as we know
