I swapped to bumper jumper during H3 and quit reach after the first week. It seems the jetpack and the bumper jumper setup don’t mix well, and the vertical based maps with tons of cover in H4 seem to favor the jetpack.
Should I consider switching to a different button set so that I can use the jetpack, and which one/why?
bamp
I was in the same boat as you, though I played a bit of Reach. I never came back from Bumper Jumper until yesterday. Sprint on the stick vs the A button is much better. But I switched primarily because of the Jet Pack, and I’m glad I did. It took some time to readjust to Default, but I’m glad I did
So is default the “best” setup ? Or should I learn the “claw” grip so that I can aim while jetpacking?
Just claw.
I Bumper Jump + Jetpack on all loadouts.
I use bumper jumper. Love it.
But do not use Jetpack often. I didn’t before BJ and now I still use it rarely. I can’t claw.
It is really the only downside to BJ. So, it comes down to if you really want Jetpack or not.
I use recon and claw grip in both Reach and Halo 4. Best combo in my opinion.
Since strafing is actually useful now I stick to bumper jumper. Originally I was using default so I could use AAs easier but I found myself getting out-strafed often, which bumper jumper seems to have fixed.
Unfortunately jetpack and bumper jumper don’t work well together unless you learn to claw, and it’s a similar situation for hardlight shield.
If you can’t or don’t wish to claw, it all really goes down to what you value more; your strafing or your ability to look around whilst using an AA.
How does BJ affect strafing abilities? Is being able to jump in a gunfight less useful in h4?
Time to try claw i guess
