I’m seeing many are asking 343 to increase aim assist on controller. Which I completely agree.
However, my biggest fear is 343 increasing it too much to where it takes a good chunk of the skill away. Aiming should still require skill.
Increase aim assist but don’t over do it. Too much of anything isn’t good. It’s all about balance.
This is the third thread I have seen for Aim Assist.
At least it isn’t a Battle Royale thread…
My opinion:
The Aim Assist needs an option to disable it completely. I hate it. It is annoying. I miss so many shots with it on. It is better than any other Halo I have played. But it still needs to have an option to disable it so I can actually aim. I have played game like Siege that lack Aim Assist for so long, Aim Assist now makes my aim worse than without it… I end up over compensating with it on and pass the target I am aiming at.
My most common deaths in Halo:
A poorly placed grenade
Getting stuck on a wall trying to back out of a fight
Missing shots from Aim Assist
To provide a better example:
My K/D in Siege is a 1.07 Unranked
In Halo 5, it is a 0.796

I agree. Too much aim assist messes with rockets, grenades, + everything you said. Too much aim assist just messes with the flow of the game and is really frustrating to deal with. As long as the aim assist is low enough to easily back out of fights and throw nades where you want I think it would be alright.
