Is anyone else tired of having their bullets spam out from above their gun? Don’t believe me? Just watch your buddy fire his AR. This is just a minor thing, but it just looks silly when I see this. Not all weapons do this, but some do. This has happened in Halo 3, ODST, and Reach, so I’m hoping in 4 they manage to stop the curse. Not much of a discussion here, but I’d like to see opinions, and if this happens to others.
This happens because the game uses an in-head camera position with an in-hands camera view. In order to have the view that you have in first-person, your arms would have to be bolted to the sides of your head.
The result is that 343 and Bungie have three options:
-
Have the bullet come out of the face. To the player holding the gun, it’s accurate; to everyone else, the bullet appears out of the air.
-
Have the bullet come out of the gun. To everyone else, it’s accurate; to the player, the bullet appears out of their crotch and fires on the wrong trajectory.
-
Change the camera to use an in-head view to match the position. Unless Spartans hold their rifle shouldered, this will mean that the gun and arms will be barely or not visible on-screen in first-person view. However, it will be more realistic and more immersive, and it will allow 343 to make the bullet come from the gun without it looking physically implausible to anyone.
oh god yes. Also when you aim at your allies head and on their screen their aiming down. This needs to be fixed in Halo 4.
EDIT- To the person above, it does make sense. I never realized why they never fixed it, but i didnt know it would change so much if the bullets when out of the gun on both 1rd person and 3rd person. Sort of like in street fighter theres a glitch where you kick and grab at the same time, basically the kick moves the player over and the grab, grabs. This makes a glitch where the player moves forward and grabs within a frame. This cant be solved, or it would change many game mechanics. I guess it is the same principle in this case. Thanks for clearing that up

An issue like this is anything but trivial to some people. I can imagine it really screwing with depictions of combat in machinimas, for example.

I think its a legit issue in the game, it makes it look wierd IMO

Right now all we really have to talk about regarding gameplay is the other games in the series. I’m glad the OP brought up something new rather than making another duplicate thread.
Are you really wanting to complain about something so stupid? Because your gun is angled, and there is no ADS option, if the bullet stream came out from the barrel of the gun, it wouldn’t hit where the reticle is aiming at, so they had to. But I guess they can alter the third person models by making them hold their guns straight instead of angled.
I agree with this. You’d think it would make more sense to have both of the cameras aligned. If you’re peaking up from cover to make a sniper shot, your head and gun should be sticking up over, not going straight through the cover.
