It seems like the gameplay provided so far indicates bullet magnetism has decreased a decent amount. Thoughts?
I personally like less magnetism. It makes hitting shots significantly more rewarding.

I think the removal of a base thrust mechanic was always going to result in lower magnetism.
Keep in mind, however, that things like aim assist and magnetism will be tweaked constantly up until launch (and possibly even after).

I hope they’re going this route, but we don’t know if they were switching between M&K layout and controller. From the looks of the BR, it does look reduced, which will definitely increase skill gap.
However, the base movement speed seems pretty high, perhaps almost akin to H4/H5. With strafing, this might prove to be too difficult from the accessibility aspect when it comes to social gametypes.
That said, they could be simply making precision weapons a higher skill weapon in general and perhaps allowing for slightly more assist on autos while having less damage output. Which I think could prove beneficial on both sides of the coin if balanced correctly. It’s looking quite promising.
I am also curious how settings may change between KB+M and GamePad on Xbox.
Currently in MCC, I even think the aim assist is not exactly the same if you use a GamePad on Xbox and then on PC.
It definitely is smoother when using my GamePad on my Xbox, though I can’t confirm if that’s because GamePad on PC is different, or just has to do with my specific hardware (PC) - so very curious how this will be in Infinite too.

They do need to balance it and that’s going to be the biggest question before launch IMO.

I think this has more to do with hardware and frame rates… it might seem smoother on Xbox, but that’s because the frame rate is locked and isn’t fluctuating like on PC (unless you have v-sync on of course), so that might be a slight bias on how you’re perceiving the ‘assist’ aspect of the gunplay.
I too use my controller on both PC and console and I don’t see a discernible difference in aim assist. For me with my setup, it feels smoother on PC, but when I would run it through Steam and check my FPS counter while uncapped, I’d have 800-900FPS in some cases on H3, whereas the max on Series X is 120, and only 60 on older systems, but in that case it’s locked at that frame rate consistently.

Important to state the Series X also has VRR. I doubt it has issues running either modes and probably would run higher if uncapped.

The magnetism was always the same in H5 compared to H3 expect for the Sniper having more BM in H5 and the H3 Spartan laxer having more in H3 look it up on YT there should be a video with about 200k vies by aozolai breaking this down.

This ignores the fact that halo 3 features much more emphasis on leading shots. Yes the BR has similar magnetism in RRR but outside of that range it requires leading shots, unlike the Halo 5 BR which was a laser from even 200 meters, something else shown off in the Aozolai BR analysis, granted that got nerfed and the BR received some of the worst vertical recoil I’ve ever seen. It got nerfed so hard that it made the magnum the de facto precision weapon of the game. Halo 5, for all it’s popularity has a pretty bland sandbox
Agreed. I like the lowered bullet magnetism as well.

I feel like bullet magnetism corrects bad net code in some cases.
I liked the MAGNETISM on the h5 sniper, pls no remove for that.

This is probably the worst take I’ve ever seen on the Halo Forums.
The whole point of the Sniper Rifle is accuracy. If you can’t hit a shot with a high-risk high-reward weapon, then the game shouldn’t correct that for you. The Halo 5 sniper rifle has an insane amount of bullet magnetism, and it never should have gotten the boost in magnetism anyway. Does anyone remember that pro game where the Sniper HIT SOMEONE THROUGH A WALL FOR A GAME-ENDING CLUTCH? Or even the insane amount of hip magnetism the weapon had on release? Everyone always comments on how Halo 5 promoted skill, and while I agree that Halo 5 is competitive (to a fault), the sniper rifle isn’t a particularly skillful weapon because of it’s aim assist. It makes more sense to me that in a game with as much mobility as Halo 5, that having little to no aim assist further increases the skill gap.

The Sniper on Halo 5 felt like a joke using. Halo 2 at least you had to time sweeps.

Yeah, Halo 2 isn’t innocent, it’s sniper is pretty cheesy lol, but it’s nowhere near the Halo 5 Snipe. Every time I see someone post a clip with it in Warzone or Arena or whatever, I just can’t help but fume as I watch those bullets bend outside the reticle to score kills.

Halo 2 had the most casual friendly sniper yet felt good to use playing MLG. Casual gamers now are much better than back then though.
Nothing is set in stone, considering this game is meant to last 10 or so years tells me things are going to change.

Changing hit scan to projectiles would be a massive change.
I’m down for BR kills requiring skill to earn them; playing H4 on MCC it feels like BR kills go to whoever started shooting first most of the time.
