I agree somewhat. But just because either not a “power weapon” doesn’t mean it’s any more viable in a sandbox like infinites. I think in the dozens of times an enemy has come at me with the Bulldog I’ve only died once. I’ve also gotten a few kills here and there, but an AR is just so much better to use for almost the same ranges as the bulldog and than some. Odds are some pellets are gonna go off target even if you are aiming the entire reticule on an enemy anyway. It’s just a bad weapon imo . From what people who have access to campaign have said and shown is that its even more useless there too.
I agree somewhat as well especially in regards to weapon sandbox + some of the bigger maps. I do wish the Bulldog was a little better in terms of per shot damage and range (and the campaign footage looks like it the Bulldog isn’t super good there) but I personally have found some success with it on smaller maps. especially combining one shot with a melee at very close range which I find often makes a very snappy kill.
That being said, even with some tweaks I hope it stays independent from the old 1-shot pump-action shotgun (which I still personally prefer and should totally return imo).
LITERALLY Aozolai said that lmao! The drills do MORE damage than actual multiplayer did you WATCH the video?
I played the flight, they absolutely did nerf the thing a bit. The 1.15 and 1.00 is outdated, my goodness.
Actual question, how are you all using the Bulldog so poorly that you have so many pellets not impacting your targets within bulldog range? Y’all really need to do some drills. Fun fact, Bulldog is the same in Weapon Drills as it is in MP so, zero excuse. Drill 3 is however, frustratingly hard to 3 star and I think it was designed with the old balance in mind, not the new. You should be able to 3-Star Drills 1-2 NO problem though.
It simply must stay independent. The two can coexist.
I think all it needs is a one shot at point blank and everything else is great where it’s at.
Nah nah, it isn’t that kinda’ shotgun. Besides the… old one barely worked that way anyway.
Sorry to say halo has always had a close range one-hitter quitter type shotgun, it has always been the counter to the sword and hammer, it was also great at guarding corners near OBJ’s.
I cant even get a one-tap when barrel stuffing someone’s visor and it normally takes three shots plus 1-2 body shots where it used to be a two hit at that range. Add that to the pathetic ammo reserve and its next to useless. Reload was super fast in the older games where I could put just one shell in at a time and fire it after every shell.
Please read the whole thread. You are literally using it wrong.
I have, and no I’m using it correctly. I’m just saying it’s a complete turd. A shotgun in halo needs to be a one hit at melee range with no need for a follow up punch.
It’s supposed to BE a power weapon that dominates close range weather the enemy has a shield or not. Sword or hammer, the shotgun was always better than both. Except in H2 where it was a tie between it and the sword.
The bulldog needing to fire three shots where the old one took two makes it inferior and a major downgrade. Also it is supposed to be a power weapon in this game why else would it spawn in with only 1 extra magazine like the sniper and the rocket launcher. Someone noted the mangler and that spawns in with at least 2 extra mags so it is not meant to be more powerful than the shotty but it is.
Yeah and it LITERALLY was a bad decision. No quotas being requested here, just not gutting the sandbox of classic weapons just so no two things can be roughly similar. We should have more, not less. Obviously not every weapon (whether new or classic) belongs in something like a ranked playlist. But for campaign, customs, even social modes like BTB, there’s no reason to have such a “tight” sandbox. You’re excusing bad design choices.
We dont even have an smg unless you count the needler, and the railgun was niche AF, the shock rifle is by no means a substitute for the beam rifle and its so similar to the stalker rifle that it might as well be the same thing.
I think the recommended uses of the bulldog that have been discussed do make it interesting to use. So if they kept it as is and added the close quarter one shot kill range, then it would be an amazing weapon with solid versatility. But it still would have disadvantage at mid range to keep it from being overpowered.
You’re just straight up expecting too much out of it.
It would just be a longer range sword.
It fires at the same rate either way, holding down the trigger increases bloom vs tap firing.
What I described still wouldn’t be as strong as the halo 1 shotgun though (I think anyhow). Though the bulldog has decent range, the two shot range is noticeably smaller with the bulldog. I think the three shot range is in a comfortable spot. From what I’ve seen, in the three shot range, you can often get outgunned against a decent player using most weapons. So both players need to play smart there.
Adding the one shot probably would not extend past normal melee range, and it would still require you to use 2-3+ shots in most situations.
With that in mind, the bulldog certainly does not function like a longer sword by adding a point blank one shot kill (my opinion).
Ones of the gaps in the game right now is that there’s literally nothing to counter the sword except the repulsor equipment to give you more time to shoot. Maybe they need a different weapon for that role, but I don’t think it would be too extreme for the bulldog to have that added to it
Bulldog is alright, sad that shotgun cant really counter sword anymore unless you are a good distance from them to get your two or three shots in
True and based there’s a reason people aren’t get 20, 30 killing sprees anymore
Aye, but that’s what the repulsor is for.
Nobody ever did, outside of Infection.
and for an Arena game’s balance, I do not care for a custom game’s balancing issues that can be solved by players.
Honestly, people really underestimate the uses of the repulsor, i actually really like it
It is VERY cool. Great mobility tool AND a defensive measure!
