Ignoring the times you’ll just end up punching the air, the fact that you can walk through other players means that if you try to go for the combo, you’ll just walk right through them and leave yourself oven while the melee animation winds down.
I consider myself a shotgun fan and love this thing. I shred pretty hard with it consistently. IDK what you guys are doing wrong. Ranked, Social, doesn’t matter, the Bulldog delivers.
THANK YOU. Everyone I played with during the flights kept pooping on it but I thought it was awesome. It still is good even with the rof nerf. It’s not supposed to be “the new shotgun”, it’s a “different shotgun” that you’re supposed to use a little differently and once you realize that, you’ll probably love it. The best part is they can re-add the old shotty later and it won’t feel redundant because they function differently.
Bingo! They are entirely different weapons and the Bulldog’s identity should NOT be sacrificed, because even if it DID function JUST like the old one…?
People would just say, “Well why did they change the appearance? They should add the classic shotgun so we have one that at least feels the same.”
Yea sure whatever.
At this point your only argument is that “Bulldog’s fine cos I think it’s fine”
I’m not even gonna bother asking to see a full match with you using Bulldog, it’s an okay weapon but it’s not as good as what your entire thread is hyping it up to be.
I don’t really record and upload, I don’t really think it’s regular for most people to do that unless they have a good reason lmao. Even if I did I’m sure you’d like, find reasons it was bunk.
I’ve literally provided math, examples, uses for the weapon, but you’re just so totally stuck on it not being what you want and honestly I don’t understand that.
And Halo 5 had literally 4 rifles that filled virtually the same role. You could cover 4 unique weapons in Halo 5’s sandbox by saying: “precision rifles.”
They even had the magnum in there for good measure too.
I was honestly surprised to see how much the Halo community liked the old shotguns (mostly referring to Reach and 3). Yanno, the weapon that was basically a glorified human melee weapon. The Weapon that if someone took a single step back you basically had to load 2-3 shots in them anyway.
The Bulldog is an excellent weapon. It reliably 3 taps for an 0.9s Killtime at medium range. Comparably, a perfect with the Sidekick takes 1.1s at max RoF/Bloom (good luck with that). The BR takes 1.45s. If you can’t see the advantage in that you’re just blind.
It’s not a power weapon. There are two other power weapons in the game that do exactly the same thing as the old shotgun did. Get close, press RT, get kill. There doesn’t need to be a third.
Hard disagree with in high diamond to onyx the bulldog is just commonly not picked up because most people can just 3 or 4 shot from mid to longish range with a mangler. You can’t even get a double kill without being traded unlike with the OG shotgun where you could go nuts with it. overall the gun just sucks and the OG shotgun needs to come back.
The issue is that many posters in the thread do not play in diamond/onyx lobbies–there’s a whole range of skills and thus I think we’re talking past one another. I’m guessing the gun is more useful in platinum or gold lobbies where you’re much less likely to get fried at optimal BR TTK while blasting away with the bulldog at medium range.
Again, it’s not -not- useful. It’s a good secondary, basically the same as a mangler. Just nothing near what it used to be when it change the flow of a match.
Considering the Shotgun went entirely ignored in MLG over the Magnum in CE, and Sword in 2, and wasn’t even put on maps in proper competitive settings (MLG/HCS) in 3, and Reach, has anything really changed here?
All that has changed is instead of directly competing with the Sword and Hammer for best melee-range exclusive weapon in the game, the Bulldog is now more akin to the CE shotgun in a game where everyone spawns with a weapon that actually has a longer optimal ttk than it within that mid-to-close range niche.
The Bulldog gets 5 shots out faster than a BR gets 4 bursts, and doesn’t require nearly as much effort for it’s hits. It’s worth picking up for those situations. But that’s not the range you’re going to spend most your time fighting at on Bazaar, or Streets. A Bulldog on Recharge (during sword downtime) or Aquarius would be lit though, as those maps have far more tight quarters engagements on them.
I find that the people calling for nerfs or weird buffs to rhings that don’t make sense either dont Know what they are talking about or just want the game to be halo3… kinda sad i think
The CE shotgun makes me question the existence of the Bulldog. Good range for a shotgun? Check. Deep ammo pool? Check. One shot kill? Check.
I do think both weapons can coexist, much like how the Mauler coexisted alongside the shotty in Halo 3. But it’s really not as good as the one-tap shotguns from previous games, particularly CE’s.
It’s not a question of the Bulldog’s coexistence with the Shotgun. It’s a question of the Shotgun’s coexistence with the Sword and Hammer. They removed all the BR clones, the Beam Rifle, Fuel Rod, SMG and Storm Rifle for a reason. When guns have the exact same purpose it’s just redundant. The classic Shotgun in this game wouldn’t be different enough from the Sword to justify it’s existence, and they went really far out of their way to make the Hammer as different from the Sword as possible. That’s why we have the Bulldog as it exists now, because it’s not just a UNSC Sword.
