In practice the bulldog doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to, it’s underwhelming against the AR and Sidekick. The only real way to use it is as a mauler, with a shot plus melee…but the melee is a broken mess in this game currently.
it’s not bad for cleanups when someone is one shot, it does have moderate range.
So what if the old shotgun is “overrated”
Something being overrated is never and will never be a good reason to remove it.
Fact remains that the old shotgun has its niche, and fulfils its niche very well. It’s a fan favourite and had its place in the weapon sandbox, and that’s all it had to be. Bullpup is cool, but it tries too hard to stand out and doesn’t even do a good job of it, hence the reception of it is less than stellar.
You wanna know what other weapon tried to “stand out” and failed to do so? The Scattershot. Guess what happened to that huh? In the end 343 turned it into the Heatwave which is basically the Scattershot, but is uniquely different in usage.
Y-yeah, you aim and shoot. 2-3 times or once and a bonk. If you’re not waiting around the corner for a guy you can see on radar then idk what to tell you. If you’re playing comp with the bulldog, then hug walls and keep an ear out lol, it really isn’t bad.
Bulldog. It isn’t the Bullpup. Bullpup is a type of way to load a magazine into the weapon, where the receiver is behind the trigger assembly to shorten the length of the weapon but not sacrifice barrel length or effectiveness at long range. The Bulldog has a traditional in-front-of-trigger-assembly load type.
Thing is, I don’t think the Bulldog is trying too hard to stand out. I think it is literally just trying to vibe.
No. Clearly I am not. Cause the AR does its job better than the bulldog and then some. You say it’s better? Lmao like I said, as a shotgun is supposed to be a counter to the sword , something Halo has always done, it fails at its job. I’m good.
Yes and the bulldog is bad. Get over it. People do not like it. People will refuse to use it, and if they do, will keep being reminded of the OG shotgun that added to Halos identity…this gun doesn’t add to Halos identity. Period.
The Sword being used with all the mobility capabilities in this game is extremely overpowered. Its the same problem as past halos with sprint and AA’s etc, but now there’s no way to counter it at all
At what point do you think I’ll buckle and bend to your opinion? I’m not gonna’. I’ve played since Halo 2, so I know what’s up and the Bulldog is good at its job, which isn’t the same job as the old shotgun. The sword fills that job.
I just don’t get why you wanna’ keep my topic alive so bad.
Y’ever used the repulsor? Makes any gun capable of killing the sword and is much more reliable.
Aye, and -
Zombies basically never have shields. So it’s just fine for Infection.
It’s always useful, it’s a sword. But it shouldn’t be overpowered either. Right now when someone has a sword, the only reason they shouldn’t get a kill with every swing is because they’re substantially worse than who they’re playing. With sprint and sliding and grapple hooks and repulser jumps etc it’s way too strong.
You mentioned the repulser, but the repulser spawns literally right beside the sword on most maps. So the sword user is the one that has that.
Maybe the real problem is the poor layout of most of the weapons and power ups then. A sword should be in top mid or in an otherwise neutral location where people have to challenge for it. One of each equipment should be on both sides of the map, that sort of thing.
The sword should be useful but also shouldn’t be an instant 5-kills weapon. There is no solid counter for the sword within the 10-15m range which is outside of the sword’s range and so should not be an guarenteed kill for them.
The bulldog’s spread is too narrow to reliably be able to counter a sword user that’s charging with sprint and/or sliding. Needing to get 2-3 shots into the sword user before they close the distance to red-reticle lunge range is extremely inconsistent.
Bulldog spread is fine. Its damage is just too pathetic.
Its optimal kill range for 2 shot kills is about the same distance as Halo CE’s shotgun, its furthest range takes 3 - 4 shots to kill.
This is simply not good enough vs what other players have BY DEFAULT, which is the AR spray into a melee hit.
And if it’s matching other weapons in the sandbox, it straight up loses to every single one in its effective range save the Plasma Pistol and Pulse Carbine.
Bulldog needs a serious buff if it even wants to stay used in the Sandbox, never mind not being the Shotgun players desire to use.
