Y’all are sleeping on the sentinel beam. I’ve gotten so many bulltrue medals with that thing in fiesta.
OH YEAH. That bad boy is an automatic pickup for me like, every time!!!
I’m not, the only thing you need in this game is an AR and ammo for it.
So you’re a social only kinda’ player?
top of social i was plat 1 in h5’s hcs team arena playlist never picked up anything but snipe, rocks and OS
Just had our Tuesday night custom’s night. Played a couple of games with just shotguns. Definitely a different flavour to the classic shotty. Took a little getting used to, but was a lot of fun.
It definitely is not better than the OG shotgun but it definitely isn’t bad either. One of the better guns in the sandbox imho
Mangler doesn’t need to be adjusted for social, I don’t get why devs won’t learn this. You can have 2 separate balance pools for ranked and social
Not without risking confusion and division of the player base.
Social deserves to have well thought out balance.
Diamond 1 here. Probab;y has to do with using things that aren’t the AR.
Mangler isn’t OP in social, it is just a good weapon. If all the “nerf” is is put it on the same level as Heatwave, then that’s fine but if they actually NERF the gun, I won’t be very happy as it doesn’t need it. Pros shouldn’t dictate the balance of the sandbox
They should. Hate to say it, but pros know what’s good for the game. Always have.
They don’t know what’s good for the game, they know what’s good for them. Pros know how to use every weapon to the best of its ability, 90% of the playerbase doesn’t. A weapon can be OP for pros and not for everyone else or it can be trash for pros but it can be OP for everyone else. This is especially prevalent in RTS games
I changed my tune about the bulldog and heatwave after watching HCS. They slap pretty hard.
Pros obviously understand the game from a competitive standpoint (which, in theory is sometimes good for the casual base as well) but I know plenty of friends who dropped the game because it’s “sweaty.”
I think the game needs more social/casual options to appeal to those people.
Oho yeah don’t get me wrong. Halo: Infinite is VERY sweaty.
But the Bulldog? AMAZING gun.
No they freaking don’t look what they did to the BR in H5. pros want the game to be about one “loadout” weapon and a power weapon or two, also the fact that h5 while having warzone never launched with or had any prerendered BTB maps
Pros didn’t do anything to anything in Halo 5. All they ever were was ignored.
Pros didn’t ask for the BR to be made bad in Halo 5.
Pros also are totally fine with a versatile sandbox and mid tier power weapons, as long as they are balanced, or skillful to use.
Point to that, the stalker rifle. Its very strong in good hands, but its in a spot that you have to go out of your way to get (Only on streets in comp), and its hard to use.
Sentinel beam, similar fashion, but less strong and less out of the way. It has lower aim assist and less range than the BR.
The heatwave and bulldog are fine, overall. Bulldog might be a little too strong or too easy, but its a neutral pickup that has only one on the map.
You don’t really see pros complaining about any of these weapons because they take effort to get, and are (for the most part) unique, where only one can be on the map.
The mangler is NOT a neutral pickup, and is very, very strong AND very quickly spawning. Its basically the strength of a bulldog on a very short timer, in a position where its very easy to get to.
THAT is why you get complaints about the mangler, but basically none of the other pickup weapons in regards to pros wanting nerfs.
That was years ago.
The current state of games that have a competitive side is that the devs bend-over-backwards to appease the pro league because of the revenue their tournaments bring the companies.
Take a look at Rainbow Six Siege.
Since Year 4-Season 4, the game has been altered to better suit the pros.
- Dead bodies now disappear, which removes the “play dead” tactic you could employ.
- Map reworks are done to be less realistic and more pro-league centric of the “3-lanes” issue that everyone hates. There is always an angle to approach and flank now.
- Characters now shimmer with a glow-effect so you cannot hide in shadows
- Round timers have decreased to just a little over 2 minutes, so now it is a fast-pace game of rush tactics rather than ALL tactics.
And that is just scratching the surface.
Now let’s look at Halo Infinite.
The game has barely been out, and the pros demanded the Mangler be nerfed. And what happened in this last update?
Mangler now does less damage, even though the many polls on the forums here; where social and ranked players discuss the game, requested that it either not change or at least have a spawning change. Not a stats change.
Hiding in dead bodies is an issue, and flies in the face of your want for realism.
Making maps play well and be balanced is fine. A map being fun is more important than a map being realistic.
Hiding in the dark is bad design, and can be countered by jacking your gamma way up, which is just bad for the game to make it look terrible for an advantage. This is why Halo never had the color black as an option to begin with.
Last one you can totally argue for, the others you can’t.
And the mangler changes haven’t even been announced yet, much less implemented. Calm down. Most pros are asking for a change ONLY for ranked. Get it together.
