Yeah the CE one sure but that’s like… An outlier that shouldn’t be counted. No other weapon of the series has been like that utter balancing monstrosity.
The pellet spread in Infinite is very much the actual pellet spread, though. But the damage falloff prevents the 3SK beyond close range.
Any game where the shotgun wasn’t pump action, it was basically never 1SK. Even the pumps were often dubious.
I get it, you want to say that Infinite’s a bad FPS but go use an AA-12 in MW. Come back and tell me that’s a 1SK as good as a SPAS is lol.
But most engagements with it aren’t point-blank unless you’re getting the drop on somebody or grappleshotting them, so it is usually a 3 shot kill. Especially with hit detection being what it is right now.
I’m the resident expert on the bulldog around here and you’re telling me it’s pump like I don’t know that. Anyway you dodged my point but it’s not like I didn’t see it.
Yeah that’s kinda’ how the old one worked optimally too, tbh.
And it DOES work…!
In time. But in this sandbox… You will be disappointed, I think.
The problem is the fact that neither the M90 shotgun or the Convergence Bulldog are in the multiplayer.
As a result, there is no close-quarters counter that prevents the Energy Sword from being overpowered.
In other Halo games, the Shotgun was the weapon that countered the Swordfighter running around the map. It was such a good weapon, that the Infection game mode had the survivors team use it to fight the infected.
But now in Halo Infinite, whoever picks up the Sword automatically has a severe advantage in the match. With no close-quarters counter weapon, the team with the Swordfighter is the one on top. Which means that outside of Fiesta, the sword has pretty much no direct counter.
Yes I do want the Convergence Bulldog in, but as a top-tier power weapon with only 18 shells.
Currently, the Energy Sword has no close-quarters direct counter, which unlike in every game since Halo 2 if you saw someone with a sword; your immediate thought was to go for the Shotgun that can kill in one blast and stop that guy.
But the bulldog is a good mid-tier weapon, but sucks at fighting against the Swordfighter.
I believe if a Sword is on a map, then a Convergence Bulldog or the M90 Shotgun.
Im asking for something similar to the classic shotgun to come back. The Energy Sword is KING in all matches and has no solid-counter.
Should the Convergence Bulldog come to mulitplayer, I think it should have 6 shells with 12 spares, NOT like the 12 shells with 24 spares it has in the campaign. AND it would be a high-tier weapon like the SPNKR and the Sniper.
That, or bring back the M90 if you are afraid of the range issues.
The enemy team has the Wraith or Scorpion? Then your goal is to get the SPNKR and blow the thing up? Or attempt to board if if you can manage to get close, but that depends on map topography.
The enemy has a sniper rifle? Well there is a beam-rifle possibly on the map to counter-snipe.
The classic shotgun of Halo was always a perfect counter for a sword-spartan. That is why the Infection game-mode worked so well.
The classic shotgun one-kills up close and personal while the Sword did so as well. but now that that weapon is out of the Sandbox, the only reliable counter in close quarters to a sword-fighter is another sword-fighter; which doesn’t happen outside of Fiesta.
It is why the winners of most matches and the person that gets the most kill on some matches are the team that possessed the sword the most.
If the M90 was added to the sandbox, then we would have a full-counter for the sword. Until then, there are only partial counters that end up killing you, like the SPNKR which can kill you as you kill the sword boi.
And until then the sword will remain one of the top weapons on the roster and what makes you the MVP of the match.
The sword is a close-quarters domination weapon.
So is the shotgun.
If you have one of them, your goal is to keep the shotgun out of the enemy’s hands while their goal is to get it to counter the sword.
That… is literally what I said.
But power weapons control needs to be balanced. You have the tank? try to keep the rockets out of the enemy’s hands and vice-versa. You have the sniper? Keep an eye out for anyone trying to scope in on you while you take out the enemy from afar.
Power weapons have balance tho. And currently, the Sword has no full-counter.
Or just remove the better 8 Gauge sword and let the sword exist.
EDIT: If the goal is to keep the shotgun out of the enemy’s hands, then the goal is to have the shotgun, NOT the sword - do you - do you see that’s what you’re saying?
If I have the shotgun, then the goal is to have the sword.
The sword and classic shotgun are evenly matched, which depending on skill and luck; chooses who the victor of a clash is. But it is about 50/50 who wins that clash.
With the sword and any other weapon however, we know who typically wins. ESPECIALLY if that swordfighter has a Grapple or Thruster.
I’m not saying get rid of the Bulldog. It is a really good gun for close-quarters, but if Infection is going to come to Halo Infinite sometime; then the classic shotgun needs to return otherwise the Bulldog players will lose every time. And outside of infection, whoever has the sword is the victor.
What I am saying is that they gave us new weapons, but left out what has been series norm since the start. And now it has an imbalanced sandbox because of it.
