Bulldog: Y'all do get how it works right?

I truly hope you’re right

Remember bud, Halo 5 had five different Magnums and two different Battle Rifles. They will bring back everything in time. Remember how 5 got Reach’s Grenade Launcher, and it was an absolute little monstrosity of a weapon? I loved their iteration so much. Just the old one but straight up superior. Lovely stuff.

The M90 or, M45, will return! I promise. Just like the old Magnums. The Sidekick is no replacement, just different.

Woah hey there don’t start up like 15 new discussions with a single comment or I’ll keep getting notifications for this NEXT December.

Hey I ain’t wrong! They will bring back old stuff for sure. It’s gonna’ last at least five years and they’re aiming for ten! So like. It’d be weird if they didn’t, wouldn’t it?

I really like the Bulldog, it’s range feels much better than a lot of Halo’s previous shotguns and it’s lack of a one-shot allows the sword and hammer to shine more than ever before. I do think it could use a slight buff to RoF and damage, bringing it closer to where it was in the flight, because with the nerfs it received the Mangler, Sidekick, and AR can all much more easily compete with it in close quarters. While I understand it’s role has changed slightly, it is still a shotgun, and loadout weapons shouldn’t be able to compete with it as well in its intended range of use. Now the Mangler could use a nerf in my opinion. It’s ability to one-shot melee makes up for its lower per-shot body damage a bit too well, letting it kill as fast as the Bulldog while also having a bit better range. I can understand why they would give it the ability to do the one-shot melee combo, but it just feels like that outshines the Bulldog a bit too much while the weapon itself also naturally has better range than the Bulldog.

I really like the Bulldog personally, but I can understand why not everyone likes it as much as the classic shotty; however, I think they can make the classic shotty and Bulldog work fine in Infinite. They would have to be careful not to let it outshine the Sword and Hammer, so I’d guess it would be more akin to Reach or 3’s shotguns with a more limited OSK range, and perhaps they could keep it off maps (or map weapon rotations I guess) where the Sword is a spawn so as not to outshine it.

I played some Halo 3 on MCC last night and couldn’t help but remember how much fun the shotgun used to be. The Bulldog isn’t really a shotgun per se. It doesn’t have spread Pellet damage that can hit multiple targets, or at least it doesn’t seem to function that way if that was the intent.

I mean it’s strong at what it does, which is clear rooms and overwhelm people with subsequent shots, but it’s a different slot in the sandbox than a shotgun would Normally be.

I think the intent behind the bulldog is that it’s a shotgun that can perform outside it typical limits.

It can land shots a bit farther than the old Halo 3 shotty, but it’s damage is pretty weak as a tradeoff. It’s the same 3 shots to kill from point blank, up to it’s optimal range cap.

Nah, incorrect. Optimal TTK is 0.65s, two shot kill. But it has damage falloff/spread that prevents 2SK at mid range.

…Neither does the old one tbh. What were you playing, infection?

That’s what I’ve been saying yeah. The old shotgun can come back, but it’d fill the same role as the sword or hammer… and possibly, not as good.

It’s a three shot kill. They nerfed the damage after the flight. It’s a 4 shot kill at mid.

No it’s not.

I really wish y’all would stop trying so hard to be wrong about this gun.

My opinion on the bull-:frog: went from “I hate it” to “It’s okay I guess”.

Can’t really blame the gun for not being the old one.
Still miss the old Shotty, but I’d pick up the new one, if I was more into non-BTB/smaller map modes.

It has uses in BTB! But BTB is bad in Infinite, so :woman_shrugging:

Yeah it has some uses, but I don’t really tend to pick it up.

Sadly I’ll have to agree on the BTB being bad. It’s my favorite mode since ever, like, I play nothing else.
(Still I did some 4v4 games for the challenges, they made some nice maps.)

Like, just, the random weapons alone make it a horrible mode to play, but the weird drop-in for vehicles and power weapons are bad too. Loot caves are ridiculous since they don’t give GOOD weapons, so… Like, what GIVES? I want BTB 1.75, not 2.0 lol.

It was an honest mistake.

You don’t have to be obnoxious about it.

I’m just findout about this. Apparently you need to have all the pellets land to get a 2 shot kill with this gun.

Forgive me, people are very obnoxious about misinformation about this lovely shotgun.

So, my apologies. But yes, you need to use it right to get a 2SK. Any closer than 2SK range and you’re going to melee - which you SHOULD be doing with the classic shotgun to kill-confirm anyway, since it’s well known that even in the pro scene, it isn’t usually good enough to 1SK in its intended range.

It’s why I consider the Bulldog a genuine upgrade. Faster reload, more shots, faster RoF, faster TTK in general. Yeah, it struggles to bulltrue, but… That’s really the job of the repulsor anymore.

Hilariously, I DID get a bulltrue with a warthog turret, twice in one game, the other day. lmao.

The shotgun in Halo 1 had a cone of damage that could hit multiple people. In 2 and 3 the bullet magnetism was weird with it, where either all the pellets hit If they were on the screen in front of you at all or many just disappeared into thin air. In 4 and 5 they brought back the spread and increased the range. The 4 shotgun is kind of the perfect one imo, it has everything You want without being overpowered. In 5 with smart link Tightening the cone of damage it WAS overpowered.

The bulldog functions basically like the halo 3 shotgun but with less damage per shot and more range. The pellet spread is just a visual cue not the actual space at which the damage is going to work

no the optimal TTK with a shotgun in 99% of all video games is 0, one trigger pull, that is what a shotgun is supposed to do 1 shot 1 kill just like the snipe
