Daddy’s shotgun isn’t here, the sword and hammer fill that role just fine.
It’s literally not in the same spot. You’re looking for the sword and hammer.

This is the wrong way to do things. We don’t need to destroy the Bulldog and melt it into something that would perform better.
We just need 343 to actually give us the Shotgun. I agree with you completely though. Infection without the shotgun would not be the same. The Shotgun is required.
He is referring to a Ranked playlist that is only slayer. This doesn’t exist, and it should be added. I prefer to have a little spice in my ranked, but there should of course be a separate slayer only ranked mode. That’s a no-brainer.
I think that if 343 brings the Shotgun back, people will start to like the Bulldog more. Well, just a thought. It has been pretty fun recently.
I would hope and also suspect that this wouldn’t happen. There would be no reason to complain. Until 343i adds the Shotgun, the Bulldog is always going to be seen as “the replacement shotgun that doesn’t work”, instead of the unique weapon that it is.
Agreed.
I hope so.
And it’s a significant shame, since it’s a damn good gun.
And? It’s a valid argument. You have a shotgun that’s not good at the only thing a shot gun should be good for.
Ehh… yes I understand what you mean. Leave the sad little Bulldog to its current state but introduce the pump shotty later.
I Dis-Agree.
Those are melee weapons. Shotgun is melee-counter. They aint the same. It aught to take 2 shots to down an enemy from 10 meters away and one shot within 2 meters, y’know, within the hammer and sword’s effective range.
Well, yeah. I mean, if we just changed the Bulldog’s stats, then the Bulldog would just be the Shotgun but uglier.
I don’t want the Shotgun but uglier, I want the Shotgun.
Just ain’t true.
It… literally does that, haha.
Anyway use the repulsor.
I mean I think the Bulldog looks cool, but that’s just me.
You shouldn’t have to rely on a power up to make a power weapon usable.
I honestly have no idea how this thread is so long.
Out of curiosity, are there any maps where the bulldog spawns in more than one place? I haven’t had a chance to actively check it out, but I can’t recall maps where it spawns in more places at the moment.
I think one of the main points of conflict about the bulldog is that it is a still shotgun (the only one in the game), and every halo game has had a shotgun with a one shot kill range. So it’s kinda going against halo’s established universe.
One thing I don’t quite get about the arguments against the bulldog having a one shot range, is that the one shot range in previous games’ shotgun really isn’t that far (except maybe H5). It was barely outside of melee range.
Edit- though they are making more of a distinction between power weapons and everything else now, the shotgun was never on the tier of full power weapon in previous games (may a mid tier power weapon, my opinion). It was strong, but not on the level of rocket, sniper, etc. If i recall correctly, the sword and hammer still has greater one shot range as well.
The bulldog seems to play close to Halo1 shotgun except it has less range, no one shot, a bit slower, and less shells loaded. If 343 wants to keep the bulldog as is bc that’s their design that’s fine. Then it would be worth adding a gun with a more traditional shotgun that fills it’s traditional role.
Edit2- I don’t mean that as a negative for the bulldog, more trying to highlight that the halo 1 shotgun was closer to a power weapon, but there were usually 2 or more on a given map
You really don’t have to. But the Repulsor makes any gun a bulltrue machine. Not the Bulldog specifically. Besides, pickup weapons are not power weapons.
That’s interaction, baybeeeeee!
Mh, spawns wherever the heatwave dog, you’ll most easily find it in the lower center of Live Fire, the side of that lab map and streets.
I don’t think it’s going against the universe. It’s just different. I mean it isn’t even the same gauge - 12, as opposed to the classic 8. It’s much smaller.
Thank you! That’s just it, it was barely outside of melee range. You basically had to one-tap-plus-melee if you were beyond that melee range and in higher tier Halo, it’s good, healthy practice to melee after that shot anyway because the classic shotgun wasn’t a guaranteed kill most of the time, even within its operating range. The Bulldog just, requires you melee after a shot at point blank so it just makes the routine more broadly known.
Most people’s clips I see of the classic shotty doing work are against really, really clueless opponents. The Bulldog allows you to engage at a range where people are aware of you. It’s flexible.
They absolutely did…! So 343i decided, “Well what if we retooled the shotgun and carved out a special niche for it?” and what do you know, it worked out.
I wholly, fully believe they will in time. It’s probably the most requested weapon at this moment anyway.
I mean. . . It’s simply a different type of shotgun which many shooters have. I’m pretty sure they said something about adding to the sandbox as the 10 year cycle goes on. I don’t know how much more needs to be said lol. Let alone 200+ posts.
No it doesn’t… It takes 3 shots at 10 meters and 2 shots within 2 meters.

Good grief…
Hands down, the Bulldog is BullSh*t. Period.
Your attempts to justify it are ridiculous and prove that you are not involved in the competitive Halo scene.
lol you can’t just say stuff like this without evidence if it’s not something thing everyone already widely agrees on, and this thread is evidence that it is not widely agreed upon.
It’s not random, except for in the way that all shotguns are which is that within its cone of fire, the pellets are discharged randomly.
I do not understand your aggression.
Hi first poster. Want me to whip out my comp buddy to disprove you?
Yeah. No these folks are coming in trying to beat the Bulldog into being what they want it to be and it’s wild.
It’s because I’m angry that we didn’t get a ‘normal’ shotgun, but instead we got this… thing that I hate.
And yeah, I use it sometimes, I even do well with it. But it’s not “Fun”, y’know? It’s not as satisfying as just BLAM target down.
And you advocating for the bulldog just makes it less likely we’ll ever see the ol’ pump shotgun again since “Why have two shotguns?” Is gonna show up in their internal design team’s debates.
Because they’ve said before they’re likely to add old weapons back over time. IDK if y’all followed the news at all but there will be a time where we… probably have just about every old weapon back in the game. But for now, we have what we have.
It’s not a replacement, it’s different.
