Building the Prometheans

A few articles covering Scott Warner’s talk at GDC:

Halo 4 designer chronicles building the Prometheans

GDC: Voltron, T1000 major inspirations for Halo 4 enemies

They copied the wrong Voltron. :stuck_out_tongue:

In seriousness, while 6 is a lot of units to include, I think having at least 1 more type of promethean would have been good. Most their encounters feel too samey at the moment.

This also strongly implies Requiem isn’t the only place we’ll encounter them.

Here’s what I think.

Basically, the high ranking Knight ranks are redundant (gameplay fillers like Elite Generals) and uninteresting enemies. Lancers are more challenging than them!

Knight regulars and Lancers, I think that’s good enough. I’d like to see 343 add more supplementary units and give the 2 Knight ranks some new capabilities…

Yeah, for supposedly having come up with a ton of abilities, it would have been nice to divide them amongst the various knight variants.

Its nice to see that they definitely view them as an area that needs to be improved.

Maybe in halo 5 we will fight Sphinxs.

They just need to behave and function differently as you face stronger ones, not just slightly different ones with more health.
Here I’ll start. New Promethean Melee weapon: Hardlight whip!

Heck, even bringing back the sentinel beam as an actual hand-held weapon as opposed to something ripped out of a sentinel.

Its so weird that halo 4 lacks the only forerunner weapon pre-halo 4.
