Building Halo Worlds Panel - SDCC 2013

Full Panel at Gamespot

I’m still watching it myself. So far, the first 20 minutes or so is just Spartan Assault. I laughed when Brian Reed said that fans like Palmer. Maybe more do than don’t (and I know some people do), but it doesn’t seem to be the case from what I’ve seen.

Anyway, take a look!

EDIT: They did talk about the possibility of future content for Spartan Assault. Nothing confirmed, but they did say to “keep an eye out”.

My question is why is 343 trying to get us to like Palmer so much? Is she going to become a main character after chief is done if he ever is done?

Why didn’t anyone question Reed about Halsey?

> Why didn’t anyone question Reed about Halsey?

Because sadly most questions at pannels is not asked by hardcore halofans. Rememebr this one year when someone asked if recon was unlockable i halo reach, that was like 4 months after they had revealed the recon preorder armor -_-

If I was there it would of been no mercy type questions

It likely wouldn’t have gone anywhere anyway. I have asked bs angel just what exactly 343i’s policy on Halsey is and it essentially included how they know Halsey is a major character and that they have a lot in store for her. Maybe it is unfair to pick on Brian Reed so much about Halsey, but he did call her a monster in the Halo Bulletin and as someone who had, him not me, worked in the comic book industry, I would’ve thought that the lesson of not messing too heavily with popular characters would’ve caught up with him.

There is a reason Joe Quesada gets so much -Yoink- for Spiderman: One More Day.

What happened there?

If I recall correctly, it was just after the Civil War arc regarding superhero registration, Captain America was killed and Peter Parker’s identity had been revealed publicly. Naturally, an assassin is sent out and shoots Aunt May. Throughout the One More Day series Peter tries to find a way to save his aunt from death despite characters saying he IS going to die.

Eventually Peter makes a deal with Mephisto, the Marvel version of Satan essentially, to save his Aunt by sacrificing his marriage with Mary Jane because his marriage was pure and divine from God or some other Deus Ex Machinia bs. Come to find out, Quesada himself did not like the marriage between Peter and Mary Jane so that whole story existed to make HIM happy. Needless to say, fans were not pleased.

“One More Day” is a four-part, 2007 comic book crossover storyline, connecting the three main Spider-Man series concurrently published by Marvel Comics at the time. Written by J. Michael Straczynski and Joe Quesada, with art by Quesada, this story arc concludes the fallout of Spider-Man’s actions during the 2007 Civil War crossover. “One More Day” starts in The Amazing Spider-Man #544, continues in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #24 and The Sensational Spider-Man (vol. 2) #41, and concludes in Amazing Spider-Man #545.
After his Aunt May has been shot, Spider-Man seeks help to save her life. He encounters the demon Mephisto, who offers to save her life if Spider-Man gives him his marriage. Spider-Man and his wife Mary Jane Watson agree, and this part of their history is erased so that, effectively, they have never been married. Additionally, the demon erases the world’s collective memory of Spider-Man’s secret identity, which had been exposed in Civil War #2. The storyline set the stage for a restructuring of the Spider-Man titles, resulting in the cancellation of Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and The Sensational Spider-Man, with Amazing Spider-Man revamped as a thrice-monthly publication.
The decision to abruptly end Peter Parker and Mary Jane’s marriage and the events of “One More Day” were heavily criticized upon the series’ conclusion, although the artwork received praise.

Woot Wikipedia!

Wow, that sounds terrible. I suppose we only got it light, then.

meh, so I’m lazy.

OT: A common theme I saw from that panel was time and resource constraints; time constraints for Forge and Theater, resource constraints for Halo 4’s story detail (Like not being able to include much backstory on Spartan-IVs), and then there was the the issue of disc space preventing them from moving the terminals into the game itself. This does give me hope that Halo 5 will be a much larger experience, especially given that it will be on new hardware.

Confused about the statement that many people really like Palmer. Even though it’s a minority in the fanbase that are outspoken about it, the larger silence can hardly mean that people really like her.

Disappointed that the “Mega Surprise” turned out to be a Mega Blocks man, but oh well I suppose it was fairly obvious beforehand. Also, lack of Escalation mentions too.

Overall it wasn’t a very exciting Comic Con this year, as opposed to their previous years, but that’s probably just due to my overall lack of interest in Palmer as a character, Spartan Assault and Initiation. Palmer’s material sure seemed to be a big part of CC this year.
