Building Halo Armor. Need help

Hey guys. Here lately I had the crazy idea to start a project once Halo 4 comes out. I really want to make a replica of the Halo 4 Chief’s armor, but I’m not sure on the technique to use. I want it to be reflectively cheap, but still look real and be durable. I found a good method at this website: http://www.squidoo.com/how-to-make-halo-weapons , but I want to know more detail on the process. If anyone here knows someone that I can get into contact with for help, please leave the information on this forum. Thanks.

Well, I can’t help you but I got to say it was a great site
Maybe you could find a tutorial or something on google or youtube, not Halo specific but the method used so you get the basics?

This dude can help.

sorry i posted twice.

The 405th makes great armor.
Personally, I build my armor from scratch (but conflicted to wear it now, lol). I use cardboard and ductape. Cheap.
$4 colored tape
Free cardboard (don’t ask, mine magically appeared. Space-Magic)

It was very helpful, so I forgive you. lol

Try going to the 405th Forums they are well known for making awesome halo armor + weapons

Agree with CHARK19 and hobbitears10 on the 405th

I am in the same boat and once you pick your material (pepakura, cardboard or foam) - search their forums for some great how to threads.

Pepakura (paper / auto-body resin/filler)

If you want to make a 100% exact replica - see a master at work here. He uses pepakura (folder paper templates) and then a combination or auto-body supplies to detail the pieces. This is as accurate as you can get.

Foam Method (Floor mat foam + hot glue)

Check out this 405th thread. This is the genius from the 2012 Comic Con with the huge Gatling gun. He uses hot glue, EVA foam and some great tricks to make his amour.

To be honest, a big part is your age and what your comfortable working with. Some methods can take a weekend while others months.

Here is a quick photo breakdown of my helmet I just finished that I did off and on for 2 months using pepakura as a base.

I’m 16 and really want something to be proud of. My plan is to start putting some money to the side to buy tools and materials. Other than time, my only concern is making a visor. As far as detailing, I am a decent scetch artist and could get an accurate detail straight from the game.

By the way, that Machine gunner from Comic-Con was amazing. At MOST, I want to install lights in the helmet’s sides, like in the game.

Basically, I want something that will be challenging, but not too much so. I also want it to be reletivly cheap, but still look authentic. As far as time, I WANT it to go reletivly quick, but it can take as long as it needs to be GOOD.

Like I said, if anyone who reads this can help, or has a friend that can, I would really appreciate it. If u want to stay updated, send a message to my gamer tag saying so.

Do you have reference pictures of what you’d like to build?

Not yet. Unless u know somewhere to get some nice details of MC’s armor in Halo 4, I’m gonna have to wait until the game comes out.

I just google searched a few pics of the chief, and just winged-it. I can show you what I’ve done so far…
And you have, what, 4 months? You can make something outstanding, with little effort!

I found this a couple days ago.

Definitely the best Armor Replication I’ve ever seen… and it’s FOAM!!!
