So for the past 5 days when trying to play my copy of Halo:MCC online which is the main reason I bought the game I have been greeted with a text box saying “downloading latest matchmaking data please wait.” so I did just what it told me. I waited, I waited and waited and waited some more. Still, I cannot play my game online. I cannot enter matchmaking because of this Box. Now, when other games say they are downloading something they have a progress bar telling you how much longer your download would take. Seeing as this is only “matchmaking data” it makes little sense that it would take multiple hours to download even on the slowest connections however thats how long i waited and to no avail, I come on this website to look for answers and i find a lot of upset people due to the fact that this is also happening to them. some say “do a hard reset” I’ve done that 5+ times. others say just play a custom game. I did that i booted up a custom game on the relic remake looked at all those pretty textures and ended the custom game. when i ended the custom game I had no way to go to the main menu. pressing “B” did nothing, i could look at my non existent stats from the custom game and even press the “Start/menu/whatever Microsoft wants to call the button on its controller with the 3 horizontal lines” the only way i could go back to the main menu was to quit the game and restart it. This game is more broken than it was at launch, trying to apologize about a broken game by adding “odst” and one to many BTB maps on anniversary multilayer doesn’t really matter when you can’t play it. When this game first came out you would have to wait hours in matchmaking to find a match. now apparently i have to wait hours in the main menu to even get to matchmaking. i noticed there is no one from 343i or Microsoft who has addressed these issues on these official forums and to me thats quite disturbing and disheartening seeing as I originally bought my Xbox One with the promise of and i quote from E3 2014 “Halo 2 exactly as I remembered it running at 60 fps and on dedicated servers” that promise was such a grand thing to hear. now it’s late June early July and all i want is for the game i bought to work.

it’s been 3 days and no help from support
Here, its been 6 days and counting…
add me to this need of support also. 2 days no help.
same here what is happening???
I keep getting told by xbox support to delete & reinstall. That worked the 1st 3 times I had this issue… 9 hours later each time I was about to play.
NOW AGAIN… They expect me to do that! I shouldn’t have to plan 9 hours ahead to play my halo mcc!
I posted a forum that this is the only fix that worked for me… But now I’m just irritated with it.

thats xbox support they are not going to help you all. what we need right now is acknowledgment form 343 and a patch to fix this. because here are literally hundreds of people that this is happening to

I don’t know if you’ve tried this one, but it has worked for a friend of mine who was experiencing this issue. If nothing more, at least this won’t require but about 3-5 min of your time to try and see if it does in fact work for you too.
Change the name of your Xbox.
To do this, follow these steps (starting from your Xbox’s home screen):
Settings > System > Name (Press A) > Delete current system name > Type in new name, and select “Enter”
You will be prompted with a message that tells you your system requires a restart once you’ve successfully changed the name - Accept the restart and let it reboot. Then, sign in, launch The MCC, and cross your fingers!
Hope this will do the trick, and hate the fact that 343 won’t support their current products, much less their paying customers.

Well after going in and changing the name of my Xbox One to “343-is-trash” (yeah i’m a little upset) and restarting the xbox i still get that screen in all of its game ruining glory. the reason changing the name for you is because That causes the xbox to hard reset and i have hard reset I don’t know how many times now and still nothing apparently that works for some people but it hasn’t worked for me. and in reality it;s just stupid that a hard rest is the “fix” the game should work like any other game I own i don’t have to hard reset if i wanna play something like Battlefield hardline i just play it and it works. I’m sick of this. it’s been 8 days, 8 days of literally just waiting for someone to honestly say. “we’re working on a hot fix for the matchmaking data bug”
Got up this morning to check if matchmaking has been patched, it hasn’t, won’t let me in still says "downloading latest data. that that make it 9 days and 343 to be found (longer for other people) and no 343 to be found

You won’t like my answer, but it’s the facts.
I’ve had to reinstall every time I get the “downloading latest data” message.
Reason is, it’s actually NOT downloading the latest data, it’s stuck. So, until they release a patch for this fix, the hundreds of us with this concern get to uninstall and reinstall every time there’s an update.
IT SUCKS!!! For some people it takes DAYS to redownload. I’m on my 6th time (last night) redownloading this massive game because of the “downloading latest data” nightmare. Then, as usual… They’ll release an update within a week or two and I’ll have to start the process all over again until they release an update that FIXES this issue.
SOME people have tips and tricks to get it to work… clearing MAC address, hard restart, changing console name, spamming the stuck screen… All good and great if that works for them but I know HUNDREDS of people that NOTHING works but reinstalling. My friend reinstalled his, THREE hours later got the stuck data screen and had to reinstall again (3 hours later there was an update), he’s done… Nuked his game.
Don’t bother calling 1-800-4-my-xbox. I was hung up on 3 times, told to contact 343 myself via forum (hence no good answers here), trouble shooted my network & console till there was nothing else to test. It’s the game, NOT A NETWORK OR CONNECTION. Its sad, but it’s the cold hard truth.
I’m playing now… But this is my 6th re-install. But… Who knows when I’ll get that “downloading latest data” screen

well after trying everything else I did just this. I took my xbox over to a friends house deleted halo re downloaded it with ODST and i’m now able to play matchmaking granted this took an entire afternoon on his connection on my home connection it would of taken 3 to 4 days just to re install. game is still littered with bugs. simple menu things that should honestly be a quick fix. at least i’m able to play matchmaking once more for the time being which honestly was the main reason i bought the game. the fact that you had to re-install the game is quite disheartening as to i’m not sure how long i’ll still be able to play matchmaking. just because mine is a fixed now doesn’t mean it’s not a huge issue that needs to be addressed. I can only gardening tool that Halo 5 doesn’t suffer the same terrible fate that MCC has had to deal with. theres not a lot of halo fans left anymore.
