Use case:
Pull out sniper rifle (default no zoom)
Zoom into 5x.
Zoom into 10x.
Switch to secondary weapon. i.e. pistol.
Switch back to sniper rifle
Zoom in - Instead of going to 5x like normal, I am sent straight back to 10x.
I don’t recall this happening in any other halo.
Can this be fixed, or at least given the option that if I switch weapons, it also removes the zoom level?
i feel like i noticed this happening to double zoom weapons a lot.
i thought im just not understanding something thats causing this, like maybe im doing something unknowingly making this happen?
It is intentional, not a glitch. Very helpful on BTB, when you are trying to track someone and get descoped, when you zoom again, you’re already at the desired zoom level. If you see someone closer, then change levels to suit the situation.

It’s not a bug, it was an intentional design change. 343 made it so that way when you get descoped or swap weapons your automatically back to the zoom level you are at. It is very jarring and doesn’t feel super great, but I can understand the reasoning behind the change. I would however like for it to be reverted back to how it’s been for all the previous titles except for four which took out descope for some dumb reason.
I wish they’d allow us to toggle this setting. I find it so jarring. You have to keep track of what zoom level you were last at; so annoying. I wouldn’t mind if the zoom level stayed at what it was after getting descoped but I wish it would reset after switching weapons at least.
Fine in the case you presented of getting descoped.
