Bug Report: Halo CE - Needles 'home' on allies

Self explanatory - it’s a new one on me.

Was playing 2v2 Matchmade game and accidentally picked up a Needler.
Thought it’d be fun for a bit to muck around, while unloading on an enemy, my teammate crossed my path and I noticed a majority of the needles I fired actually followed him.
I then confirmed that afterwards and without fail, if my cursor is near my team mate, it activates the needle ‘honing’ function.
It’s not just client-side, as the needles that track and actually do damage.
Excuse the phone video - my upload studio/capture manager is not working properly at the moment:

I wonder if this is a problem in the original game. I’ll find out soon.

EDIT: Doesn’t seem to be, at least in custom edition.

Jestzer, thanks for the reply mate.
Forgot to add that I also checked:

Halo CE (campaign + split screen) (Xbox)
Halo CE (campaign + split screen) (Xbox 360 Compatibility mode)
Halo PC (campaign + multiplayer)
Halo Custom Edtion (Multiplayer)

And in all other titles, the needles do not exhibit this behaviour and fire with the normal spread (presence of team mate has no effect).

From that I can assume there is something odd about how the weapons engine differentiates between enemy/ally biped in MCC
Most facets of this work fine (no aim-assist or red-reticle etc) but obviously the needles homing function is broken for one reason or other.

Not sure if this could effect other facets of the engine/gamplay, but I did notice when accidentally sniping a teammate, it registered that they committed suicide rather than a betrayal - although this was just a one off, haven’t done any further testing.

Here’s a quick comparison video between Vanilla Xbox and MCC - updated the link in my OP as well:
