Bug in the Ranking System

First off, I’d like to say I have played many of the Halo titles over the years, and I have been having a blast in this Beta so far! Asides from some minor issues it looks and feels great.

I do have an issue I would like to bring to light about the ranking system though, in the hopes that it will be changed before launch.

I just got promoted to semi-pro last night and was pretty happy. Right after my promotion however I lost three games in a row, and I did not perform very well. to my surprise I was not demoted back to onyx 3.

I looked around online and read that once you reach semi-pro, you cannot lose it for the duration of the season.

I think this will cause a lot of people to buy boosted accounts similar to the bought 50s in Halo 3.

What do you guys think? I know that new seasons will reset ranks, but I can still see people buying the division, especially if theres some overall legacy stats to look at for each gamertag. Not being able to be demoted seems like an unnecessary perk that will only cause problems.

Hope 343 pulls through on Halo 5 and has a successful launch!

No doubt the fact that a player can not be demoted for the duration of the season after reaching semi-pro is a problem. In fact, I’ve noticed that from any rank, the system seems to give you a second chance to redeem yourself before bumping you down a rank (i.e. gold to silver). I see this as a perk for the less completive player, whereas in your situation it seems like a flaw that a player can not be bumped out of semi-pro.

On another note, what is your kda? I feel this is a good determining factor of how good a player is, because in first to 50 slayer, obviously the idea is to have more kills than deaths. I think it is disappointing that the system only analyzes wins and loses in allowing you to rank up, because after all when you aren’t playing with a team of your choosing, you are at the mercy of 343’s matchmaking and that of course has been very inconsistent in the beta. I’ve seen too many onyx and gold rated players with nearly even and sometimes negative kda’s and then silver rated players with very positive kda’s. Any thoughts?

I don’t like how you can be a bronze, silver, or a gold player and go against full groups semi-pros and onyx level players. This type of balancing makes no sense to me.

You are only locked into semi pro for a season (aka the beta for now). The seasons in the game will probably be only a month or so. You need to go through your placement matches again as soon as the next season starts.

If someone buys a semi pro/pro account one season and is placed bronze next season it will be obvious they bought the account

I have around a 1.7 Kd (6.9 KDA) in beta so far. I believe the ranking system does take into acct your individual performance though, there will be games where I will go 20-11-9 and only will only lose like 4 points for a loss instead of 16
