We all know that Edward Buck was an ODST, but I just don’t like the fact that his new spartan armour looks like ODST armour, they even called it the helljumper variant. I can see why this was done, but it just doesn’t work. Don’t get me wrong, I do really like the way the ODST armour looks.
He is now a SPARTAN.
But I do like the colouring on his armour though, the green visor works really well (to be honest I like all of the new coloured visors).
Any thoughts?

OP they said he likes to stick with what he’s used too so he attached some of his old ODST armor onto his new spartan armor. That makes total sense to me. We’ve had ODST variants of spartan armor since Halo 3 and this variant is by far the best looking, whats not to like? Also how does it not just work? If anything it works perfectly, so please, don’t be apart of the nitpick horde. Helljumper is a great name for it too. Also I looked at the picture, because it’s amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Buck liked being an ODST, makes him feel at home so he modified his armor with ODST armor. He even scratched a “V” within a heart on his chestplate to remind him of Veronica Dare.
If you read New Blood, you’d know why. He is a die hard Marine, an ODST at heart. Even as Spartans, when he, Romeo, and Mickey were together, they still called each other by their nicknames from their ODST days, ie. Gunny.
He loved being an ODST, and part of him still is. His armor choice is pretty much him displaying his legacy.
I don’t see a problem with it. We’ve had ODST flavored Spartan armor for many years now in the games, so if ODST armor exists in the universe why would it shock you that a former ODST would want it?
It’s not the fact he has it that is the problem.

Mjolnir Gen-2 Definitely-Not-An-Upgraded-Armor-That-Looks-Like-ODST-Armor Variant. That should have done the trick.
I don’t think the name is what’s going to tip people off…

Sorry OP, I don’t mean to be rude but you don’t really have a leg to stand on here. You’re basically saying, “I don’t like his armor because it makes too much sense and fits too well”.

The point is 343 have basically gone “look it’s Buck and he looks like an ODST, because he used to be one. Get it? Get it?” We all know who he is and 343 didn’t have to make it so obvious.
