In the new Hero Reborn ViDoc there’s a scene towards the end showing Buck with a new pistol. Look at how wide that barrel is, it’s like a 12mm hand cannon. New weapon for the sandbox or cinematic only you think?
Looking at it side-by-side with the regular pistol it looks like a bare-bones version without the hand guard and top sight.
It’s more-than-likely a continuity error that 343 oh, so loves.
Don’t see why it’s a continuity error. There’s bound to be more than just the M6 series of pistols in use by the UNSC.

I pointed this out over on page five of this thread about five hours ago. Popular speculation is this pistol is the “Halo CE monster” that we all know. It resembles the Halo 2 or Halo 3 ODST pistols, but not quite. This one does seem a lot larger then the M6 series of Magnums. My personal theory is that this is a custom weapon that Buck commissioned after becoming a Spartan.
The pistol is very clearly not part of any M6 line we are aware of because of the is missing hand guard. If it is by some chance the God pistol I’d believe it just because of its shear size, but I hope it isn’t because the iconic lump chrome that is the CE pistol is far more memorable.

Ironically though the default pistol looks more like the Ce Pistol than this one does, the only similarity between the Ce pistol and Buck’s pistol is the color.
If you compare Buck’s pistol and the default pistol, it’s the exact same gun only without the top part and without the attachment on the bottom.
I’m going to guess this is just another version of the same gun, much like how one of the Spartans on Chief’s team has a scopeless DMR.

That is also possible having different version of the same weapon isn’t unheard of in Halo 5. The jarring thing is that this pistol is so different to the standard that it can’t actually be an M6. With every version of other weapons we’ve seen like the silenced DMR or the Bayonet Assault Rifle they are still very distinct in design as being the MA5 and whatever designation the DMR goes by. With this pistol it shares almost no physical characteristics with the M6 series of Magnums. The only feature it shares is the fact that it is a pistol.
Like I said though I personally don’t feel this pistol is the God Pistol from CE, but instead a unique weapon to Buck like Thel Vadam’s Prophet’s Bane or something akin to it.
Glad to see I’m not the only one who noticed that their was something off about Buck’s pistol.

lol yeah I agree. Compare Halo to real life. Do you see the only pistol in the world being an M1911 for example, or a Desert Eagle? No there are many types of guns in the world therefore, of course Halo could have many different types of guns. I do not mind artistic changes too much after all Marty O’ Donnell and Jaime Griesemer from old Bungie gave 343 their blessing as heard on the GI Show Podcast so I am good with 343’s choices.

That’s a rude statement. 343i had adhered more to canon than Bungie did. Besides, its not like there is only one pistol ever. There’s so many weapon manufacturers outlined in Halo’s lore that there could definitely be more than one model of a weapon.
It looks like the Socom Pistol (aka the ODST Pistol), but white instead of black.
Could be Buck’s version of the Prophets’ Bane.

It’s probably a legendary weapon that we can unlock through REQ packs for warzone. They said that there would be a legendary pistol similar to Halo: CE’s pistol.

Oh, no! New magnum models! You must have really hated every Halo game other than Combat Evolved. In a series which literally spans across the entire Galaxy, I’m sure that it makes total sense that only a single sidearm was ever made…
Maybe each character has a unique weapon and Buck’s is that pistol? Although it’s two-tone instead of all black, it could be a new, unsilenced version of the ODST pistol. We know Vale spawns with a plasma pistol and perhaps Chief spawns with the AR and the legendary version of the Magnum from Combat Evolved.
