I think that since Buck is probably more experienced, i think he gets the nod.
I’d have to go with buck on experience alone.
It’s a coin toss honestly…they both have a good amount of experience. Buck was an ODST, and Locke worked for ONI out in the field, hunting down some of their targets.
In reality, it’s whoever has the upper hand in the moment.
I’d say Locke has more plot armour at the moment. So him.

I think Locke could clearly out smart Buck in Field Advantage Tactics hence why hes leader on the hunt for chief and not Buck but Buck Has more Field Experience He Fought on Earth and Reach!

But really, Buck all the way
Since they basically have the same armour (GEN wise) they have the same Tech so it comes down to knowledge, and from what i can see Locke can outsmart Buck so i have to say Locke.
As much as I love Buck, I’d say that Locke would probably have the upper hand.
I hope 343 doesn’t shame Buck, or all of Fireteam Osiris for that matter, by making them seem like bad guys.
I havent felt emotional for locke as i have buck. He better not die off like noble team did.
Gonna go with Locke on this one. Buck is good but I think his attitude / character sway opinion too much. Especially with how ONI agents tend to be…

How did you manage to play through Halo 5’s story four months before its release?
Anyway, I think the question is pointless since they’re both on the same side. But I think Locke will be a better strategist and excel greater leadership skills due to his past with ONI. He will have had access to some of the best intel and training. But I think Buck will have slightly better combat skills because he’s had tonnes of experience throughout the Human-Covenant war, and is considerably older than Locke.

Yeah he showed off those great leadership skill In nightfall. Got his team to stay to gather a whole 5 minutes before they started turning in each other.

None of the playable characters are going to die. They are there for co-op and for four player squad mechanics. You can’t kill Buck (player 2) in mission 7 and then be stuck playing three player co-op the rest of the game.
I suppose it’s possible someone could die at the very end of the game, but I don’t think it’s likely. I think everyone makes it out of Halo 5 and we end w/ the stage set for Halo 6, just hopefully not on as big a cliffhanger as Halo 2 left us.
