Buck Should Lead Team Osiris

I don’t understand how he’s not the leader. Buck has far more battle experience and leadership skills than anyone on Team Osiris. Buck fought in the Battle for Reach and even helped defend New Alexandria before the city was eventually glassed. Not only that but he also fought in the Battle for Earth and also helped get rid of the Covenant in New Mombasa by working and strategizing with his team of ODSTs while they were the only ones left just by ambushing groups of Covenant soldiers during the night and other things. The fact that he’s not leading Team Osiris is stupid. He earned his rank and deserved to be a Spartan more than any of the Spartan IVs. Honestly the other Spartan IVs should all aspire to be like Buck.

Have you read New Blood? It explains that Buck does NOT want to lead a team anymore due to the events in the book.

Oh I never read it. Did something bad happen because of his decisions?

You could say that. Its more he’s just tired of leading.

Oh I see. Well I feel like eventually, he’ll have to lead again. If Locke ends up getting captured by Cortana, Warden Eternal or even The Didact in Halo 6, then he’ll have to lead a rescue mission to get him back if he doesn’t have Blue Team backing him up.

I swear I’ve seen this thread before.

There was another thread like this before? Lol.

Those are some pretty specific circumstances.

Lol I know right? Then again they’re just hypothetical scenarios.

I’m curious too. Did someone die or something went bad?

Spoilers for New Blood ahead. Read at your own risk.

Rookie gets killed in an operation on Buck’s homeworld of Draco III, Mickey later goes Insurrectionist, and Dutch retires, leaving him and Romeo the only active members of Alpha-Nine, which ended up disbanded with Romeo doing other stuff and Buck being on Fireteam Osiris.

Thanks. Does sound like grounds for not wanting to be a leader.

You want to know the REAL reason why Buck is not the leader?

3 letters…

ONI.

Did you read New Blood?

If you didn’t read it, Read it, It’ll tell you exactly why he isn’t leading Osiris.

Freaking ONI. Always has to ruin everything. The only thing I like about ONI is there vehicles.

Rookies death and Mickey betraying the unsc were some big contributing factors, not to mention the fact that he had already watched the original line up of alpha nine die in front of him.
