Buck in Halo Infinite

Remember how the Arbiter could be used in Halo 3 by the second player? Also that he wasn’t completely useless as an AI partner? What if Buck, who is now a spartan and showed clearly that he has a particular level of respect and admiration for Chief, was a GOOD companion?! I want to see something like that instead of the terrible AI teammates we had in Halo 5. Make him more aggressive and have plenty of witty dialogue while chief is quiet and nearly mechanical. Also, allow the player to choose our character without being locked into the main. Make it equal Chief/Buck friendly but focus more on Chief in citscenes and keep all his dialogue hearable on comms.

Buck is my favorite Halo character.

Buck is currently leading Alpha-9. I don’t see him being paired up with Chief anytime soon. Add to that; Blue team would have to just up and disappear as well for that to happen. I’d rather keep the teams as they are.

I’d prefer Chief to return to his Halo 4 character, rather than being withdrawn and mechanical.

I agree with all of this, but if they could make the teammates AI a little better it wouldn’t hurt my feelings either lol.

Read Halo: Bad Blood if you want to know Buck’s whereabouts post Halo 5 and why he won’t be in Infinite.

Story can always change

Im ok if Buck is in the game but as for the rest… keep them out. I felt H5 was too much of a sitcom with all the characters.

I wouldn’t count on Buck having a major role in Halo Infinite. People forget he is a major actor with a new show on ABC as well as various other voice acting commitments. Sure, he’s had a major role in ODST and Halo 5, alongside a cameo in Reach, but if he has any role at all it’d probably be a cameo with the rest of Alpha-Nine.

Alpha-Nine will be kept busy with the threat of Cortana looming over everyone, but whether we play alongside him is unknown. Unlikely, even. Without Buck, I don’t think I need to explain just how much better Blue Team will need to be to compensate for the lack of everyone’s favorite Helljumper.

I get the impression from the behind the scenes stuff on Halo Channel for Halo 5 that Nathan Fillon is heavily pro-Halo - I reckon he’d likely look to make it work. He’s a genuine gaming fan, and seems to engage beyond the level of just “shilling the game because I’m in it”.

I’ll side with an optimistic #BucksBack hashtag and hope for a sprawling campaign (or at least some nice side-ops) that help convey the sheer scale of the Cortana threat

GIVE ME BUCK OR GIVE ME DEATH!

Another way they could use him is in a spartan ops style secondary to the actual game.

Campaign
Alpha-nine
Custom game
Arena
Warzone

No thanks.
Their personalities doesn’t mesh well at all.

I’d much rather them bring Blue team back.Just improve their AIs and give them some more meaningful involvement in the story.

On the subject of choosing characters, I think being able to play as a plethora of unlockable characters with different buffs, weaknesses, and abilities in Campaign (after you’ve beaten it of course) would be nice and add replayability to the campaign, kinda like non canon cheat modes that they had in games back in the N64 and PS1 era.

  • Find all the cigars to unlock Sergeant Johnson, who starts with an infinite Spartan Laser, high health and damage resistance, and no shield - kill 1000 Grunts to unlock Yayap, who starts with a Fuel Rod Cannon, and an infinite Needler and Plasma Pistol (3 weapon slots), but regular health and no shield - destroy a scarab with melee only to unlock a Hunter, who has his arm cannon with dual firing mode, high health and damage resistance, but is very cumbersome - get 1000 headshots to unlock a Jackal, who starts with a Beam Rifle and a Plasma Pistol, normal health and no shield, but has a deployable Jackal shield instead - save every marine in a level to unlock Rookie, who starts out with His Silenced SMG and SOCOM, has high health, no shield, and enhanced stealth capability - find all the golden bananas to unlock Tartarus, who starts with the Fist of Rukt, and has high shield and damage resistance
Wow, I went a lot more in dept with that than I meant to.

Honestly that would be awesome to see. I don’t see it happening only because 343 is focusing on chiefs story and buck is also part of a different squad.

A leak suggested that Locke might die in Halo Infinite so I guess that will make Buck will be both the new leader of Fireteam Osiris and the secondary character in Halo Infinite.

Blue team is back. It would be crazy not to include them in Infinite.

Reviving an old thread to discuss leaks? Mods usually love that.
I wouldn’t call the Mega Construx reveal of a brute with locke’s helmet on his shoulder a leaked death though per se.

I doubt Buck will appear in Infinite, as much as I’d like him too. He’s likely still leading Alpha 9 on covert ops post Halo 5 as Bad Blood indicated

Buck is one of my favorite characters. He was such a passive-aggressive, but funny character that I feel didn’t get what he deserved in H5. They gave him some bad lines, when he literally could have saved the dialogue from being mostly boring. Maybe we have a run in with him at the beginning of the game? I’d love to see more of him. He’s no replacement for Johnson, but he’s still one of the greats.

Leaks and rumors are not supposed to be discussed on the forums, unless the information is directly from 343 or a representative of them. Not too sure xbox insiders count as a rep. Don’t take megablox as concrete foreshadowing either.
