Buck and Romeo in Locke's team? NEW BLOOD SPOILERS

This contains MAJOR SPOILERS FROM NEW BLOOD!! At the end of New Blood, Buck had himself and Romeo (who are now Spartan IVs) reassigned to another team. Now this got me thinking, could it be possible that they joined Locke’s team (pic here)? Buck and Romeo are the only ones who could be in the team because Dutch left the military (never became a Spartan IV), Rookie was killed, Mickey became a Spartan IV but became an Insurrectionist. Do you think that Buck and Romeo will be part of Locke’s team in the game?

[Just guessing here]

It’ll be:

The Spartan IVs: Locke, Buck, Romeo, & Mercer (the cutie from Nightfall)

VS.

The Spartan IIs: John, Kelly, Fred, & Linda

I certainly hope so. But one thing I don’t understand is why they cut Alpha-Nine down to two members instead of three if we’re supposed to have four person co-op. Who is the fourth member of Locke’s squad? Chief obviously has Fred, Kelly, and Linda.

I’m neverthless starting to buy the squad gameplay theory about Halo 5 though. I hope the squad mates are always with MC or Locke and you pick a character for co-op or can switch to them even when playing solo. So if you’re playing co-op, you pick Linda and start missions with a Sniper Rifle and maybe she has a bullet time ability to reflect her marksmanship. Or if you’re Kelly, you have a speed perk. John and Fred are more jacks of all trades. Certain parts of certain missions require you to switch to and use certain characters, so maybe you have to sprint to hit a switch before a gate closes, and only Kelly can get there in time, etc.

Just some ideas. It would certainly be innovative, which is what the one guy from MS described Halo 5. I really think the campaign is gonna be pretty different from previous games.

Spartan IIs would -Yoink- up the spartan IVs

Indeed they would. Buck wouldn’t even get halfway through one of this eye-rolling one-liners before Linda put a round in his smug little skull.

I like Buck, but he can be a bit annoying.

Dont get me wrong i like buck aswell but man them spartan IIs theyre training is absolutly unreal i guess thats what happens when ur kidnapped as a child for life long military traing haha

You know when posting Spoilers you should post the word Spoiler first not post a spoiler then the word spoilers. Anyway thanks for spoiling New Blood lol

That’s exactly what I thought when I finished reading New Blood. I think it’s pretty likely, as it’s odd of 343 to bring back Buck and his team without them making a major appearance. Although, Locke seems like a no-nonsense guy and Buck would probably seriously annoy him.

I also remember that New Blood was written as if Buck was recounting the story to someone. Perhaps it’s his interview to join Locke’s team?

Bam! Said the lady.

I believe your theory and exact words, if i’m not mistaken are from a youtube video i saw earlier today…

Found a video on the subject: http://youtu.be/jmXsunj5K3Q

He made a good video about why Blue Team is likely with Chief as well.

Really the stars are aligning on this squad gameplay theory. Too many coincidences to ignore.

Blue Team reuniting then going AWOL together in a squad of four; Fred’s armor featured in the H5 beta (w/ 104 spelled out in braille); Locke standing around w/ three other Spartan-IVs in that cutscene; the random release of New Blood; the addition of ODST to MCC; four played co-op confirmed; the Republic Commando developer working at 343, etc.

If #HunttheTruth discusses Blue Team, I think we’ve got it all but confirmed.

GreenSkull > Halofollower

I like the idea of Macer, Buck, and Romeo in the game. But, unfortunately, that would kind of put too much investment into Halo Lore. People would be curious, and not understand what’s going on if they just happen to play the games, and then–oh… I get it. It’s a marketing trick. Ok.

Eh Buck and Romeo are from Halo 3: ODST, which was a very popular game and is being added to MCC. Nightfall is available to anyone who owns MCC.

And either way, even if casual fans don’t recognize them, it will be far cooler to have real characters as squad mates or co-op partners than having four identical Spartan Lockes running around (H1, H2, H4) or generic, nameless Spartan-IVs.

Having people figure out who Blue Team is strikes me as a much greater challenge at the moment. I know back in the day I thought Chief was “one of a kind” and I probably wasn’t alone in that. I am sure if they are indeed in the game, we’ll hear more about them before H5’s release.

Yes buck no romeo

Good point.

Really want to know where the story of spartan strike will fit in all this. The 1st bit taking place in the Battle of New Monbossa and spanning after the events of Halo 4. Who is that spartan. Why give him his own game if he won’t be a key figure in halo 5
