Buck and his squads fate......

Basically, i’m guessing based off of the epilouge cutscene.

The squad was stationed in an ONI orbital facility. As many of you may or may not know, during the second battle of earth, the entire Orbital Defense Grid was destroyed, leaving the UNSC with only 20 frigates, and the covenant with only 40. Even if buck and his squad survived this, you still have to account for the ensuing orbital bombardment and the battles of cleveland, havana, and other spots on earth. If they survived this, well… they’re literaly living legends.

If this is true, then most likely, buck’s squad (except for romeo)
would have been great candidates for Spartan IV’s. The reason why romeo would not be included is because of his tendency to commit insubordination (which means that he would get court-martialed since the war is over) would instantly disqualify him as a Spartan candidate.

Well, what are your thoughts?

First off, Earth had a much larger fleet left over than 20 ships. Many of the UNSC ships retreated after the initial assault, only leaving Lord Hood with a few ship ON EARTH to use afterwards. Many of the Orbital MACs were still operational after the covenant attack, as they only focussed on taking the ones out that were above africa and north america, and it is safe to assume that the ONI installation was still around afterwards. Also, Srg. Johnson survived, so maybe the ODST’s and Dare were transferred elsewhere as well. It is possible that the engineer was sent to the Infinity’s shipyard in the Oort cloud to help with the ships construction after it was interrogated. It is also possible that the squad became candidates for the Spartan IV program and were also deployed to the infinity for augmentation and training…

This is stated in the halo encyclopedia: Throughout the first several weeks, the UNSC Home Fleet led by Lord Hood fiercely fought the Jiralhanae-led covenant ships. However, on November 17, Truth would arrive with the largest Covenant fleets in recorded history. Outnumbered and outgunned in every possible way the UNSC Home Fleet put up one of the most fierce resistance ever seen during the war. With nearly 300 ODPs and Hood’s brilliant leadership, the UNSC destroyed hundreds of medium and heavy class Covenant ships, eventually reducing the massive fleet to no more than 40. In return, the UNSC fleet was entirely wiped out. Only a handful of Frigates remained.

Yes, but a lot of the facts in this have been proven wrong… Like look at Glasslands and stuff. The UNSC has way more than just 20 ships. He might have had only 20 frigates left IN THE HOME FLEET
