BTB+

Would you all like to see some sort of BTB+ mode, like we had with Warzone in Halo 5? Of course- saying Warzone makes everyone feel sick, but I just want to hear your ideas for some larger player modes. Here’s mine, if you want to read it.

Warfare

-Infinite time limit
-Constant stalemate
-Large, explorable base-wars type map
-AI interaction

Summary:
There is a giant battleground that serves as a “No Man’s Land.” In this AI dominated zone, you can try to push up to the enemy base but will likely end up dying due to large sightlines and hostile ground forces. Instead, the idea is that the map is so large and explorable that your team should take either razorbacks or pelicans to different zones and capture equipment. Whether it be taking a key that unlocks spawning of a certain vehicle at your base or just stealing the vehicle altogether, scavenging of these power tools would be the only way to press the advantage on the battlefield and eventually win the game. These would be games that you can play for a very long time with mixes of low and high-intensity gameplay that I feel Halo hasn’t really tried to explore before. Would allow large vehicle fights and higher stakes, as each vehicle is a valuable piece of equipment for your team. I just love the idea of slowly building up your team’s arsenal as the match drives on, taking victory in small portions and maybe even destroying a line of scorpions, giving you an opening to the enemy base. There’s a lot that could be done here.

no. I personally think pvp just plays best when its in a simpler form. Warzone was not fun for me and in most cases, felt more like a chore. Games with a ton more players (;ike battlefield) can generally do it cause of the ttk. Given Halos ttk is longer, having a ton of players just makes little sense. It makes the gameplay messy. Staying simple and straight forward with a decent but reserved player count and map size is just better. Bigger is not always better, BF 2042 shows that

I want to see the tanks, wasps be used a lot more! Only got like 2min on each before the games would end

I get that, and honestly I agree. The thing is, though, I don’t want to just stick 20 people in a ring and see what happens, but rather have a larger map that is strategically attacked in pieces by smaller parties. This would negate the TTK problems, as there’s more investment in location and it would prize the individual life a lot more than, say, Battlefield. I’ll always love my 4v4 and other smaller modes, but a good part of me has always wanted to see the Global Battles mode come to life. I suppose a ‘rolling battle’ type system would be the only major solution to this. Here’s a very rough explanation of what I mean by a rolling battle.

Legend:
Team 1, Squad A: A-1
Team 2, Squad A: A-2… you get the idea.

A-1 and A-2 meet
A-1 defeats A-2. A-2 now respawns.
A-1 can either push forward further into A-2’s territory with this newly captured Wraith, or alternatively ambush B-2, who recently won against B-1, of whom now has a Gauss Hog.

Note that after each engagement, the victors have received a new piece of equipment. Because of this, they’re given many new options and a reason to pursue different, smaller battles for different goals.

Dynamic ‘squad’ battles that channel and facilitate smaller 4v4 action in a large environment is my idea of a BTB+. Sure, it may make the game more complex, but I’ve always felt as though Halo had an opportunity to increase its scale and complexity without killing its core gameplay.

Honestly? With how good Forge is cracked up to be? I wouldn’t be surprised if somebody took this idea and made it themselves.
