Why doesn’t big team battle have a mid range starting weapon. I’d actually play if it did. Fighting with a pistol on a massive map makes things insanely boring. H5 had it right with the br starts for btb. Now one person just sits back sniping poor pistol kids lmfao. As fun and funny as that is, would be more enjoyable for everyone to actually fight back some of those weapons and vehicles.
Vehicles don’t need any more counters in BTB, they can barely move as is without getting annihilated.
Also BR starts let everyone cross map from spawn and then everyone gets beamed the secind they leave cover. Makes for a very boring game. If anything the BRs and Commandos that spawn on BTB maps juat need to spawn less often and with less ammo.
I can get behind a new playlist for BR BTB starts as long as AR starts are still an option.
I pretty much just play BTB only and have never honestly had an issue with starting with Assault Rifles and Pistols in them personally. I do often swap out the Pistol for either a Battle Rifle or Commando of course, but even if I can’t get one I can usually get something else that’ll work, or hell even make Assault Rifles/Pistols work.
If they get something, it’ll probably be a separate play list so that people who are fine with BTB just as it is can play BTB just as it is.
If only infinite was more like the superior Halo game MCC where players can choose if they way precision or auto starts… Which I do prefer AR starts as players tend to move around the map more. BR starts in Infinite would probably make for some slow pace games and I have to agree would render vehicles even more useless. But the option should be there for players. A match composer for Infinite would be great.
Oh dear… let’s go into this.
Subjective.
You do realise that the BR in Halo 5 was less reliable than the pistol and had a higher TTK? Comparing the Halo 5 BR to the Halo Infinite BR is like comparing the Halo CE Magnum to the Halo Reach Magnum. Whilst they look the same, they don’t act the same.
Since that BR was less accurate, it made it more difficult to snipe people across the map. The Halo Infinite BR is more similar to the H2A BR (in Halo 5) or the DMR (again, Halo 5) since it has more range and is more accurate.
Strange. You say it’s unfair when someone sits back with a sniper, so your answer is to give everyone better range. In theory it could work, however now it’s more everyone can kill people at long ranges. This means vehicles are even less viable and moving out in the open is even more dangerous.
Also, why would people search for weapons when they already have one of the best weapons in their hands?
Counters to vehicles currently. Shock Rifle, Shock Grenades, Distruptor, Grapple, Snipers, Rockers, Hydra, Sentinal Beams, Skewer, precision weapons, Plasma grenades, Fusion coils, gravity hammers, need I go on?
Shock grenades completely disable vehicles for a stupidly long time, and the grapple just allows people to get easy highjacks. The skewer is a worse version of the Spartan Laser, and Hydra basically locks on to vehicles and destroys them like they’re nothing.
Vehicles feel incredibly underpowered and unrewarding to enter, but you’re asking to give players even more tools to destroy them? I think this quote summarises why you feel this way.
You don’t even play the mode.
So 4 people have already replied and they’ve all said the same thing, which I’m about to restate.
BR starts discourages the use of other weapons as you’ll only want to swap out the other weapon and keep the BR at all times. BR starts encourages players to remain at longer range and continually fight cross map range battles. Precision weapons do better controlled damage to vehicles.
So… BR starts turns the game into all BRs all the time.
There’s more I can say, but honestly it’s unnecessary. There was an older thread pushing the exact same thing as you are now. I remember @General_Fox and @Lanky_B_YT posting in that one as well. We said more than enough there. I’ll see about finding that thread and directing you to it @CanadianBushMan .
Oh boy can’t wait for another rendition of people twisting themselves into knots trying to explain why we can’t have a historically popular and traditional spawn setup in BTB.
And we already have my favorite tropes of claiming “well we can’t have another vehicle ‘counter’” that recognizes the actual problem, the garbage vehicle design and balance we’ve been plagued with since Reach, but refuses to do anything about it.
Of course we can’t actually fix the vehicles, because then you couldn’t weaponize the bad vehicles against precision starts.
And we have my other favorite “its too easy to shoot across the map” as if the obvious solution isn’t just make cross mapping more difficult via slower projectiles, lower aim assist, or better map design. But at the same time its apparently fine if only some people have the option to cross map with complete impunity.
Either the map is well designed enough to protect you a handful of longer range capable players, or it isn’t. Y’all make it sound like once more than a handful of players have precision weapons they gain the power to shoot through cover rather than just punish you for carelessly blundering into an open sightline.
Again we have a bunch of disingenuous and/or self-deluding folks who only seem to care about the flaws in the game with or without precision starts as far as they can be used ammunition against their personal precision weapon bugbears.
Oh yes, let’s just make multiple changes to the current system to rebalance the game so that BR starts is possible.
Makes perfect sense to me. (obvious sarcasm)
343 broke vehicles in Halo Infinite from the start. And thereby broke BTB. Using broken vehicles as a reason against BR starts is disingenuous at best. If they want to make BTB better, they need to fix vehicles (which means more open maps and nerfed vehicle damage for lots of weapons) and add BR starts.
Otherwise BTB plays exactly the same as Arena.
It in fact does make sense to fix problems like “a gun is too easy to use at range” or “vehicles are currently too easy to kill” regardless of settings. Using said problems as a cudgel to justify why we can’t add historically popular settings does not.
“plays exactly like arena”
Well they’ve shoved BR starts into team slayer so BTB with br starts isn’t going to be all that different.
Personally I’d love BR starts. I usually spend the first min running to look for one. The AR on a big map is a pile and a close range weapon at best. Sure you can feather the trigger and get an ok group but the TTK is slower that way. I feel like AR’s just encourage two people charging at each other spraying bullets until someone can land a melee and just usually ends up in both guys dying which does nobody any good. just my opinion but I’m just not an AR fan at all. I’d take a sidekick vs an AR especially with a hair trigger, no dead zone, smallest trigger lock setting on like an elite 2 controller you can crank off sidekick rounds like a crazy person.
I would love to see a Hardcore BTB playlist featuring a BR, Commando, or Bandit rifle. It would also be just as important to address a specific loadout mode like in Halo 4. It would be nice to choose equipment that you can use your whole life (unlimited uses). Seems like Joint Ops shows we can have different loadouts.
But yes if nothing that I ask can be granted, then a simple BR start Hardcore playlist adjacent to our NORMAL BTB.
I love normal BTB, and I also feel interest in a BR start because I have played in custom games BR start. But guys let’s not just complain about something and come up with ideas for our game to be better. It seems 343 is working on giving us what we want in the game, however it takes time.
If we can have BTB Skockets in the main BTB playlist, surely we can have BTB BR start game variants in the rotation…
That is fair, would be nice to see it trialled in a test
Infinite is the only game I like the Ar & Sidekick starts in BTB but it doesn’t hurt to have BTB with BR Starts, nothing wrong with having both
If it’s equally weighted so that you’re not just getting game after game of one version that you don’t want. I can’t stand playing Team Slayer now because it feels like I’m getting 80% BR games and they’re always boring. I wish they’d just give us the same system as MCC so we could choose what we want to play.
This is true, I agree we have given 343 plenty of money over this last year. To keep us as players of this game, they should give us more playlists to choose from. Your right on the boring part. I feel that they are trying to give people what they want with BR starts, but forgetting about people who like AR start. I don’t see why they can’t just give everyone what they want with more options
Skockets suck. It’s playable, but feels like just going backwards from the direction of the game. Just feels like a custom game rather than matchmaking. I’d rather play fiesta
