Seemed cool on paper but after playing BTB during the flight it was just a hassle. Half the time you were killed on site before getting in the vehicle (spawn camped on drop site.) Not to mention if you DID get into warthog/ghost etc enjoy getting grapple jacked almost instantly!
It’s basically a watered down version of Halo5 warzone where you are given vehicles based on reqs. But instead now if you’re a good boy the pelican *might give you a scorpion tank towards the end of the match. And then grapple jacked.
Please change vehicle spawns back to base on timer 343. Thanks.
Nah it’s way better now. Best BTB we’ve ever had.
Its a much cooler way for vehicles to come into the map, I wouldn’t want that changed. I’d like the spawn to be ramped up though.
Maybe make the drops more frequent but I really like what 343i did!

Let me preface this by saying I am not and have never been a fan of Heavies.
But I totally agree with OP’s general impression of B(igger)TB. It feels like another 343 experiment–like H4 Infinity Slayer or H5 Warzone–than it lives up to it’s name of just a bigger, more bombastic battle mode.
The random ordinance and mid dropped vehicles make it at worst an RNG fest where nothing is predictable and at best a BTB that will end up more or less rewarding the team which controls the middle of the map, because they get more free gifts from the heavens.
And that doesn’t sound “best” to me at all.
I assumed the pelican drops and ordinance would just be a cool aesthetic way to do traditional weapon and vehicle spawns. Like each team still gets a Wraith or whatever but the pelicans help remind players that they are coming–like weapon pad timers–so there is more room for counterplay or at least you can expect what’s coming. Unlike getting killed with a random ordinance drop Gravity Hammer, which you had no expectation of even being on the map.
If anything I expected B(igger)TB to essentially have a similar number of vehicle spawns to Heavies type mode, but be more balanced by the player count and the vast number of options things like the new equipment give infantry to counter vehicles.
Here’s my hope I guess. Once BTB was announced to be AR starts, I really hoped there would be a Ranked BTB playlist coming to HI. As I think even for casual play BTB is more balanced with ranged weapon loadouts. So maybe there will be a more traditional BTB with BR starts…hopefully. because I don’t like 343’s ideas for their social BTB.
(Also pls buff warthogs health and make their physics and handling more like older halos. Thanks.)

I don’t entirely agree. I feel like drops should’ve been a bit more minor of an addition to BTB, not replacing 75% of the vehicles you’d otherwise get from the start. Both teams of 12 only got a mongoose and a warthog to start. In previous Halos’ bigger maps you usually get a warthog or two, a couple of mongooses, a ghost, a heavy vehicle, and maybe an extra one in the middle to fight over. Plus Halo has always been about a relatively predictable environment with vehicles and weapons being in the same spot whenever you’re on the map.
I think drops are a cool idea as an extra ‘objective’ or tool to fight over once or twice a match. But I feel like each team’s ordnance at base was kind of neutered a bit much just to make the vehicles drops stick out more.
I like the pelican’s coming in to drop off vehicles, and I wouldn’t want the to remove it.
What I don’t like is the way it’s currently implemented. I don’t like how a single spot on the map is used to spawn all vehicles, of how lighter vehicles get replaced with heavier vehicles later on the match. I don’t think ghosts should stop spawning when banshees start spawning. Fragmentation already had too few vehicles on it and thus just accentuated that problem.
The pelican’s should just be used as a more fancy vehicle spawn. Vehicles put the banshee back at the bases for instance and have the pelican just drop it in when it would normally respawn. Don’t have it override ghost spawns, don’t have it spawn in only at the end of the match.
I like the drops it should just be more frequently since its much easier to hijack vehicles and destroy them.
Team based vehicle drops should be behind the base of a team, not nearly in the center of the map.
I don’t mind Pelicans dropping them off, but I certainly agree they should be more frequent and heavier vehicles should come in wayyyyy sooner. I saw maybe two tanks during my play time and each of them only arrived like a minute before the match ended. It feels like a lot of the chaotic fun in BTB has been sacrificed on the alter of balance. And, don’t get me wrong, I get why the game should be balanced and fair but having a couple warthogs and ghosts sprinkled in here and there really limits the pure mayhem inspired joy I got from previous BTBs.
well if you want a classic btb just make in forge once it comes out.

For this issue absolutely not man they need to stop messing around with the sandbox elements that no one complained about.

I agree with this 100%
I’ve stated before in other threads that this system is very bad for BTB. Slowly dropping off more and more powerful vehicles is cool, in concept. But ruins the flow of what classic BTB has been since forever.
Ideally we get all the vehicles spawn at the beginning of the match (Close to our bases) like classic Halo (no pelican drops at first.) maybe not all vehicles; but at least mongoose, warthog and ghost.
However, as the match progresses pelicans drop off powerful vehicles like tanks and aircraft (with a much shorter timer so we can actually use them for more than a couple minutes.)
If variants return, (getting an ONI Scorpion or Sword Wraith for example) would make the pelicans drops truly special moments.
Yeah, I’m also in the pool of that the pelicans should more be used as an indicator a team’s vehicle is about to be ready, not another power weapon to be fought over at the center of the map (although the occasional neutral center spawn would also be welcome). Vehicles are more paper mache than they’ve ever been, and the grapple and abundant emp are exacerbating the issue. Teams need to have some nearly gaurenteed vehicles outside of a single hog/mongoose, otherwise it’s just arena.
Also the heavies do need to start appearing sooner, they get dropped in and have almost no impact on the game due to both the game being almost over and the vehicle health issue.
I liked the pelican drops, but every match I played tanks only dropped 30 seconds before end of game and had no hope of getting banshee or wasp :-/ At most I managed to get in a turret for 10 seconds lol.
