BTB really isn't fun without BR starts

There are like 3 total BR/Commando/Stalker Rifle/Shock Rifle spawns on each side of the map, and the people that pick them up are usually so terrible at the game that they run straight across into enemy territory and give them the weapon.

So yeah, the game is screwy because there aren’t enough weapon spawns to compensate for the layout and general skill level of your teammates.

This can be amended by just giving people a decent weapon that works at more than one range as they spawn. It doesn’t make vehicles less potent because the BR actually kills vehicles slower than the AR and Sidekick.

I’m assuming that’s what everyone is the most upset about, that it would somehow ruin their vehicle gameplay. Well it won’t, I have a whole video about that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuTwIB1tIKA

For me Vehicle’s have nothing to with it, not sure why you’re bringing them up I was merely using them as an example to counter your claim that it is “Impossible” to move in BTB.

If I push the enemy base in BTB to capture the flag… maybe I kill 3+ players, I have no interest in them respawning with BR75’s and lasering me right away. I don’t see any need to discuss this further obviously we disagree on this topic.

what weapon are you killing 3 people with while going to their base, specifically?

Well that depends on a whole lot of variables now doesn’t it? For example which map are we talking about?

DEADLOCK:

  • Look for a Shock Rifle / Stalker Rifle off the spawn. If i get these weapons I’m probably defending the base. If not I’m grabbing a BR or a Commando (or a Warthog) and moving up. The one spawn has Active Camo / Overshield with Cindershot / Rockets which is good for pushing up, while the other side has the S7 Sniper / Skewer which is good for defending.

FRAGMENTATION

  • Same thing but this map has even more BR’s and Commando’s so it’s even easier to find one and push up. I also always grab a Pulse Rifle on this map to take out shields and get quick kills. Easy to defend as well with S7 Sniper / Skewers at each base. You can also get power weapons & equipment by hacking those doors which is perfect for stocking up to invade a base. Easy to grappleshot on those tall rocks and get the high ground on enemies.

HIGHPOWER:

  • Same thing as Deadlock, but there is double the Warthogs and now a Wasp. Easy to grappleshot your way to the top of enemy bases and spawn kill, possible with any weapons because you will be behind unsuspecting enemies with the high ground.

I haven’t played the new map enough to comment.

so you’re literally, and this is in your own words, grabbing a BR/Commando/Sniper and killing people that can’t fight back

Thank you for proving my points

You’re right, you know what why not just give me a BR75 and a Shock Rifle off the spawn. That would be great.

I think you’re missing the point here…

EDIT:
As countless others have already pointed out (in many threads too not just yours), the point of Halo is find weapons for higher power. In the case of BTB, there is literally no situation where you would trade out your BR75… therefore it is a terrible idea to give everyone the most ideal weapon right off the spawn (this isn’t competitive ranked).

It is not like these people do not have the same access to weapons… respawn, find a weapon, fight back. It’s pretty straightforward.

Now I know exactly what your problem is, and I get it. You don’t like that you have no ranged weapon in game mode like BTB which is primarily ranged combat. I get that and I acknowledged it with a compromise, my M6 Magnum suggestion.

There are other solutions than giving everyone the most ideal and versatile ranged weapon right off the spawn.

The BR isn’t a power weapon. It should not be thought of as a power weapon.

The BR actually has a slower TTK than most weapons in the game. The trade off is that it can work at good ranges.

Do people look at all 6 other Halos and still think AR starts would make the gameplay better?

I want ARs to be the default for arena ganellay because it’s been like that since Halo 1,3,4 and 5. It’s just a Halo thing.

Now this doesn’t mean I aould be opposed to some choice in whether you want BR starts or AR starts.

I’m sorry I can’t really speak to this haven’t played the Classic Halo’s in a long time and I didn’t play too much of Halo 4 and 5.

I do remember in the Classic Halo’s BTB was not 12 v 12, that may have something to do with it. In the Classic Halo’s everyone might have had BR’s but the amount of players involved in engagements was lower.

It’s not like BTB is devoid of ranged weapons. I can think of 9 ranged weapons in Fragmentation per side

  • 6 BR / Commando spawns (one on the rock behind base, one on the rock in front of base, one in the back of the base, one in the bottom of the base, one on the left trail, one on the hackable door)
  • 1 Shock Rifle / Stalker Rifle Spawn
  • 1 Skewer / Sniper Rifle Spawn
  • Plus I think you can take credit for another weapon for all the Pulse Caribines and Hydra.

So you still have access to ranged weapons, they are literally everywhere on that map. In theory you can have the same amount of ranged weapons in play at a time as you had players in the old games. Now if you want to claim that there aren’t enough precision weapons on the map, I can understand that criticism, the other maps are lacking in BR / Commando spawns a bit.

Every match people are fighting over the BR spawns and standing around waiting for them to respawn, if that is any indication for what the problem is.

Have you ever seen the beginning of the movie Enemy at the Gates? They’re So strapped for weapons that they’re handing one person a rifle and the next person bullets to use in the rifle when the first guy dies, then sending them out into a Warzone to run and die.

That’s what Infinite is every match and it’s really bad game design imo

I can respect this. I never have an issue in Fragmentation but Deadlock is a real offender in this regard.

There are only 2-3 BR’s / Commandos in the base, sometimes they are the same weapon and they are right beside each other so one person gets all the ammo. Plus another one to the left of the bases.

Then there is one Shock Rifle / Stalker Rifle.

The Skewer / Sniper is fought over for control.

This is an issue with map design IMO, I don’t think the answer is default BR75’s.

Because it has no range

We need a better starting weapon. We need the h5 magnum.

The BR is what has killed Halo multiplayer for me since its inception in Halo 2. It’s the only weapon viable to be used when put into the sandbox and everything else aside from the occasional power weapon or vehicle is redundant. I miss the chaotic energy of Halo CE.

We honestly need a sandbox like ce where everything was strong AF. Infinite tried reducing redundancy but gave us a strong weapon(the BR) and several booty weapons. In CE you spawned strong AF but it took skill to pull off a perfect 3 shot, and then the other toolsbare shot gun, sniper, rockets, plasma rifle(with its stun it was good) PP and needled rifle sucked but oh well.

My setup for all of my BTB Custom Maps!

Here is my startup Weapons

  1. The BR with 120 rounds of ammo.
  2. The Hydra with 36 Rounds ( That’s 6 clips )

It seems to work out well.

Peace! :fist_right: :fist_left:

I have issues with the game but this isn’t one of them. I glady accept the Infinite AR after previous titles. ( Looking at you Halo 3 ).

I don’t think that’s true dude. With or without BR, I have fun on BTB, you just want that weapon all the time “BR” isn’t everything.

That’s exactly why people cursing, executing and blaming other weapons because you just want BR, BR, and BR, then when game give you a commando you aren’t capable to handle it because you are used to BR.

Also, I think we forgot 1 rule of being a spartan.

A spartan never complaint in what weapon was given to him/her and can make massive kills, BR isn’t everything, do fiesta, and other modes haha and if you want BR, in most of the BTB maps there’s a BR, why don’t you go and grab it if you love it so much?

Who said the Commando was hard to use?

The issue of “just pick up a BR” is twofold, and we’ve talked about both issues frequently in this thread alone:

  1. There aren’t enough BR’s for everyone to have one, of the 12 teammates only about 3 can have a BR and that’s only on certain maps.

  2. While you’re having to stand around waiting for useable weapons your team is dying, your team is losing, your team is folding to the more competent enemy force.

Anyone who thinks AR starts is viable doesn’t have much of a competitive mindset, and that’s fine. But you’re always going to get smacked around by players who do. Because they’re going to be the players who pick up the better weapons and destroy people running in straight lines with an AR
