BTB really isn't fun without BR starts

true but i still got enjoyment out of it with br’s. The ar starts on those maps put me asleep.

I agree 100% Now what I did for the map Behemoth just for fun I made a Slayer map with UNLINMITED ROCKETS ONLY! It also has very low gravity and you can jump to the top of the map to kill people in mid air and faster movement. Can you imagine 24 people playing this map?? :rofl: It a kill fest map. It’s alot of fun!!!

The short range of the AR/Sidekick doesn’t create more close range engagements so much as it reduces the number of actual engagements that aren’t at close range. You can’t do a single thing in the world about a sniper or shock rifle or skewer or wasp or scorpion or BR or even a decent commando with just those two weapons on the btb maps we have. You can compete with other AR/Sidekick users at close and sometimes mid range and that’s it.

That’s what people are trying to explain, the AR start concept REDUCES fun and variety by acting as a handicap, not as a balancing agent. Nobody is using different weapons more often in AR starts than in BR starts, it’s just preventing them from doing anything of value when they don’t have a decent weapon or a vehicle.

AR starts is fun in mosh pit free for all kind of modes or in something like multi team. When it’s a more traditional competitive setting it hurts the game.

Agreed i dont really see the point starting without a br on btb🤦🏿‍♂️

I like to go around every match telling people “look at all this variety, look at all this balance” while they’re getting spawn killed by people with snipers and BR’s

Ive never noticed this happening in my games, the BR/commando weapon racks are always full actually.

I think Infinite needs an M6 Magnum with a x2 zoom. A longer TTK and less ammo capacity than the BR75, but a good default ranged precision weapon for BTB.

Either that or give everyone Commando’s I guess, BR75’s are too powerful for BTB IMO to give everyone one right off the spawn.

Actually, the MA40 AR Longshot (in the campagin) would be better!

Having players start with default weapons and go around the map to find new/better weapons has been a gameplay design choice since Halo 2. You’re playing the wrong game if you feel “no one should be forced to pick up other weapons off spawn.”

So difficult to conceive that AR starts is what the game starts with while it has a healthy playlist population of casual players, so the greatest number of people get the highest enjoyment. Over time as population goes down and the majority of players are the dedicated and high skill players, then BR/DMR comes more into play. I will also note that if you launch Team Slayer or BTB right now, in any Halo game with functional servers, it will be AR starts. There is a reason for that.

Firm disagree. BR starts in Team Slayer make a casual playlist into a sweatfest. BTB is great where it is. AR starts are preferable to most every other start.

Completely false, and shortsighted. 12 BRs focus firing a banshee, warthog, wasp, or virtually any other vehicle in the game, would make short work of it. If ARs don’t have the range to focus fire most of these vehicles effectively. BRs give everyone a laser pointer on Wasps, Banshees, and warthogs would be even less viable than they already are.

If we switch to BR starts, no one would pick up the Commando. No one. So it would be everyone getting maped with the BR and power weapon duels for the people who can cross no mans land to get them.

AR starts keeps BTB fun and casual. If you’re going double digit positive, you are hard sweating in BTB. You can reply and try and tell me you are just normally playing, but unless you are a professional HCS player, you are not just casually playing and getting a double digit K/D.

I play ranked, and I enjoy sweating in ranked. But keep the BR starts and constant sweating in ranked. As I mentioned before, Team Slayer inherited a BR start variant at the beginning of S2. I quit every game of Team Slayer with BR starts, no matter what. With AR starts in Team Slayer, its as casual as modern halo can be and still fun.

You seem pretty keen on making a perfectly disagreeable statement, then naming a few counterexamples (that are also disagreeable) and saying “so that’s not an arguement.” If you have such a perfect mind for game design, why don’t you work as a lead sandbox designer?

This boils down to you are sweating and wanting more competition. You want to always have a BR, and you want every BTB game (a social playlist since 2007) to be a sweatfest. I am sorry to break this news to you. But your opinions are highly disagreeable.

Because it is a 4-burst kill, it can fire 12-burst before a reload, and has an optimal TTK of ~1.55s. If you have 12 players spawning with this thing per team it would be impossible to even move in BTB… you’d be dead in < 1.00s if you are spotted by 2 enemies.

If it were the M6 Magnum it might be a 5 shot kill, with 10 shots before a reload, and an optimal TTK of ~ 1.67s. Additionally, the Magnum would have more error which would lead to more misses than the BR75 at mid range. With this there would at least be a chance to react to enemies firing from long range and ammo capacity is limited in comparison to the BR75. The M6 Magnum would basically be the floor for precision weapons, there would still be a reason to go out and find other weapons, unlike if everyone had a BR75.

In a respawning shooter, it is sloppy design to have too many power ups(ie better weapons than what you start with) scattered around the map. halo 3 was balanced because the weapons werent necessarily stronger than what you had unless its a power weapon. mauler, pp, smg, needler etc were worth picking up but not more effective than what you had, they just had different strengths so the player had a choice.

If you want power weapons scattered everywhere then just play fiesta

Legitimately, why don’t people understand this concept? You’re forcing people to die over and over to the 3 guys who got decent weapons on the other team.

I think you are over exaggerating. Its not like you are being spawn killed, grab a BR / Commando / Stalker Rifle / Shock Rifle etc. and fight back or grab a vehicle. You have 11 other allies there is absolutely no way a few BR’s make it impossible for you to move.

I don’t share your experience in BTB at all.
