BTB really isn't fun without BR starts

The problem is that everyone already has a BR so you are just constantly being shot from across the map by multiple people. You can’t do anything anyway. You just die or get lucky as you run for cover.

IT’S ABOUT LIMITING THE AMOUNT OF LONG RANGE WEAPONS IN USE AT THE SAME TIME.

If you have to go grab a BR and it’s on a timer then you’re not going to be constantly shot by a BR from across the map at all times.

BR starts in theory is perfect, keeping players with a spawn weapon with range. However, Infinite’s rendition of the BR is so braindead and unfun to use and fight against that it would be just as unfun as AR starts.

Make the BR projectile based and remove it’s recoil and then everyone will be happy.

Any two or three halfway intelligent people will pick up every BR spawn and crossmap people who can’t fight back.

That’s the problem with your argument, it ignores, once again, that in AR starts your stated worst case scenario is already happening every single game.

Plot twist, I’m usually the one doing it.

Small size btb maps are definitely fun!

You’re just ignoring what I’m telling you.

IT’S ABOUT LIMITINNG THE NUMBER OF LONG RANGE WEAPONS IN USE AT ONE TIME.

This keeps people moving without the constant fear of being pegged from across the map at all times and helps to cut down on spawn camping. It still happens, but it’s not constantly everywhere on the map.

If only 2 or 3 people go grab a BR then only 2 or 3 are in play, NOT 8+.

I think it depends on the quality of the AR/BR in question as well. In CE-Reach. BR starts starts are needed because the autos in those games are so poor, but also the BR/DMR in those games are very hard to use at range (bloom, projectile-based, no hit markers). H4 doesn’t really matter because of loadouts. But H5 was where BRs and the like started to feel very oppressive (especially with the REQ variants that could turn them into baby snipers). The reason I don’t think BR starts is as necessary in Infinite is because of how powerful the AR is and how easy the BR is to use at range.

But the AR is useless outside of close-mid range. So yeah it can compete with most of the sandbox right up close, but you’re just watching your teammates die instead of contributing outside of that.

Why do you want only 2 or 3 people to have fun

That’s your version of fun. As I have stated before, not everyone thinks the same as you and enjoys this game in a different way. I can pretty much guarantee that anyone who predominantly uses vehicles in BTB don’t care what weapons they start with. They don’t need them because they’re in a vehicle.

Big team isn’t meant to be hyper competitive with 24/7 combat. It’s meant to be a big fun social sandbox experience.

ok so if they don’t care then why not change the weapons for the majority of people that do

Because other people also like using the AR and enjoy not being spawn camped at every point on the map.

ok so let me get this straight…

The people in vehicles don’t care
Some people like AR’s
Some people don’t think about it at all and don’t care
Everyone else wants BR’s

Why are we only catering to like a hard 10% of the population?

Because only 10% are asking for BR starts as well. And once again it’s about balancing the game experience. If you make a change and suddenly only 10% are having fun then suddenly people stop playing or explode in anger here on the forums.

Almost everyone I’ve ever talked to about it are asking for br starts.

All my friends don’t play because it’s AR starts

That’s your circle of people. Many of the people I talk to say they’d never play BTB again if they do BR starts. We like to hop in and have fun. We’ve played past Halo titles where BR starts we’re eventually made the standard after over a year of the game being out. This ultimately resulted in us playing less big team because we would get frustrated from being constantly spawn killed by the enemy team all just using the BR to keep us from moving to anything. Halo Infinite is still a faster paced game compared to all past titles except 5.

It depends on how the game plays and the variety of maps available for what game types work best. Infinite currently does not have enough large maps with plenty of cover to do BR starts. Right now we only have 4 maps. Deadlock and Breaker are both medium large maps with little cover. These two would turn into spawn camping cross map BR fights. That’s not fun for social games like BTB. High power is a large map, but is a 3 lane map with minimum cover outside of the bases and middle wall. After a few minutes one team will more or less win as they will gain control of the map and suppress the enemy team from range. Fragmentation is really the only one that wouldn’t suffer from BR starts. It has 4 lanes with great cover throughout the map.

I understand your mentality and your thought process on this. It’s Big Team on big maps I should have a ranged precision weapon. I should just spawn with it so I don’t have to go get one every time I spawn. I’ve been trying to explain why this would be a bad idea this entire time. It would result in less people enjoying the game in total instead of small few feeling slightly annoyed with having to go get a precision weapon after spawn.

Spock said it best “The needs of the many outweigh the needs to few or the one.” and you are part of the few. Infinite is in a poor enough state as is. Making this change would be just picking up the hammer to put a nail in the coffin.

The people you know are evidently not looking for a fun, balanced experience at all then. They want to run around aimlessly or drive vehicles all game, not play to win

Winning isn’t everything. It’s social. You’re meant to have fun. Winning is fun, but I can still have a good time so long as I’m not forced to sit in one spot doing the same thing/be spawn killed over and over again for 20 minutes. And it is balanced. I have explained this numerous times already.

I have literally given you more than enough information on how these games work.

you don’t have a good functional idea of how these games work, is the problem

You want a social experience where nobody wins and nobody has fun, which is counterproductive to literally everything about video games

Its not balanced. I only ever lose because I am stuck with an AR against weapons and vehicles an AR can’t even touch. I have no idea whatsoever why you think this is fun

the last game is a perfect example. The enemy team was only able to score because I couldn’t find a BR to compete with theirs. How is that fun?

You lose because the other team has acquired those weapons and vehicles. Go do the same and/or get better with the other weapons.

It’s clear you have a hyper competitive mindset. Therefore you’re not having fun if you’re not winning and cannot comprehend how others have fun. You refuse to try and understand others opinions and feelings just to tell them they’re wrong for thinking and feeling different than you. So yo want the thing that helps you win handed to you to make you happy. That’s not how this game works.

you’re wrong by miles

I don’t want the thing that wins me the game handed to me, I want to not be actively HANDICAPPED just so people who are bad at the game have a better chance of winning.

That’s what leaving you with ARs every spawn does. You’re weak and frail and squishy, and your only chance at even contributing to the game is finding any other guns, of which there are few because of the way the maps are laid out.

You don’t want a fair fight, you want good players to be handicapped so you feel better about yourself. Has it occurred to you that your KD and win/loss would be better if you learned how to use all the weapons and not just the AR?

You’ve been saying it yourself this whole time…AR starts exists so people who aren’t good shots have less chance of being locked down by people who are. The main problem with your statement is that that is EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS EVERY GAME OF AR STARTS
