BTB Randomized Weapons and Drops Need Balance

Listen, I am not personally a fan of random weapons spawning and dropping into the map because I always loved the strategic feeling of Halo and the need to lock down and control the map in order to prevent the enemy team from acquiring power weapons. I hated how this multiplayer mechanic was thrown out the window since Halo 4, but I at least underst that 343 is not Bungie, and that they have a different vision. I understand that 343 wants BTB to be “fun” and “chaotic,” even if that doesn’t necessarily satisfy my definition of what is fun. However, if you are going to make weapons and vehicles spawns and drops random, AT LEAST MAKE IT BALANCED!

It is not fun to have one team spawn with shock rifles and the other team spawn with stalker rifles. I am not going to argue between having a BR or Commando spawn because their differences are more negligible compared to the above two rifles. The Stalker is a 2-5 spartan kill shot depending on head and/or chest shots with negligible damage towards vehicles, the Shock Rifle is a 1-3 spartan kill shot with EMP properties that disable vehicles. How is it fair for one side to have such heavy handed vehicle stopping power and sniper supremacy while the other side has none?

This isn’t even including how one team can spawn with a hydra and the other team spawns with a ravager. The ravager vs. a hydra? Is this a joke? Your team definitely won the lotto if they have the commando, ravager, and stalker rifle as base spawned weapons.

Not only that, but what makes it even worse is the vehicle drops. How is it fair, let alone fun, when one team spawns with a Scorpion Tank and the other team spawns with a Wraith (assuming you even got the Wraith at the same time the other team got their Scorpion, and that you didn’t instead get a Gungoose or Brute Chopper). Nothing makes things feel more fun when you start the game handicapped with weapon spawns, and all you can do is pray to the RNG god that the vehicles that spawn for the enemy don’t cause a sudden unfair underdog story if you team was originally winning, or cause a winning team to crush yours into the ground even harder because 343 RNG gods deemed your team unworthy.

LOOK, I get it, 343 likes randomness. The concept can be fun in theory, and can allow each game to “feel” different than the last, even if you are playing on the very same map and gamemode. But, if you really want to go this route, AT LEAST make both sides spawn with the same randomly generated weapons! Instead of having each base roll for RNG weapons and vehicles, have the map roll instead. So that way, the scenario will be (assuming same map and gamemode):

  1. Game 1: Both teams spawn Shock Rifles, Commandos, Hydras & drop Ghost, Gungoose, Scorpion Tank.
  2. Game 2: Both teams spawn Stalker Rifles, Commandos, Ravagers & drop Warthog, Rocket Hog, Wraith.
  3. Game 3: Both teams spawn Shock Rifles, BRs, Hydras & drop Mongoose, Wasp, Scorpion Tank.
    etc

You don’t understand how detrimental and absurd it is to feel like the game you are playing cheated you and your team out of any chance or hope for victory solely based on weapons and vehicle spawns as opposed to player skill level. How when I spawn in my base, I see two bright blue glares in the distance locking down warthog and wasp assistance, allowing theirs to reign supreme over our base because we have the stalker rifle and ravager to fight back. And then when all hope of any comeback is already crushed because of a 40 slayer kill lead, you hear your AI say “scorpion tank imbound” and watch it land safely and gracefully on their side of the map. All you do is sit there and think to yourself: “what the hell did I or my team do to deserve such unfair treatment, and where the heck is our tank to even try a counter attack?”

THIS a million times! I just played BTB on Deadlock (stockpile game type). The other team got a wraith and a scorpion, we got nothing (and we were already down a score)! How is this even close to being fair??

And don’t get me started on the weapons…

I’m trying figure out why on that Map with the AA Gun, why does one side Randomly spawn with 2 Commandos under the base & one with both Battle Rifles

Don’t get me started on the Vehicle drops

BINGO.

It’s funny how even the Halo 4 system was better. Weapon or equipment rewards for skillful players

and normal vehicle spawns. the Big Team Battle in that game felt better, ALTHOUGH the Mantis had too much health and felt a bit overpowered and the Forerunner Rocket Launcher and Binary Rifle were wayyy too strong.

Lack of predictable weapon spawn locations is what is really hurting the BTB experience.

Halo 2 and 3 were great because you KNEW where each weapon was supposed to be, just like power weapons.

NOW, it feels more like big team Fiesta and creates weird or unbalanced combat Rhythm and unbalanced or frustrating chaos

Infinite also needs:

— A Banshee that is JUST like the Combat Evolved Banshee

— Ability for Wasp and Banshee to allow a teammate player equipped with a “vehicle modifier” equipment to jump on the wing, who can knock off grapplers as a balanced counter that also provides a very slowly recharging shield to said vehicle

— A Wraith that doesn’t feel like it moves like an 1800’s steam Engine

— Addition of Spartan Laser, adjusted t be a Two shot kill on Warthogs so it’s not overpowered

— Reintroduction of Landmine equipment for antivehicle and personnel plays, but causing less damage than the Halo 3 Landmine ( Half-Damage )

— 10%-15% increase in overall Warthog and Banshee Health and 5%-7% Increase in weakness to those vehicle’s soft spots

— Introduction of MA5-K Assault Rifle that has a shorter range, bigger 60-90 rnd mag, lower damage, faster rate of fire and functions like an SMG

– Re-addition of Gauss Hog as a two shot kill weapon with slight splash damage, OR a turret with a mounted HYDRA instead of rocket-hogs which feel “off”
