After seeing the tech preview of BtB this evening a couple of questions have occured to me.
The first of this being, will there be a ranked BtB playlist? Given Sketch’s pointed statement of BtB being a “social interaction”. I am curious if it will be soley a social playlist.
Second, team size. I know it has been stated that BtB is 12v12, but does this mean I can go in with 12 friends? Or will their be limits to the group size you can take into the match? Two things lead me to believe we may not be able to enter a BtB match with 12 friends. The first being in the preview this evening, when it showed Eagle team, it only showed four of them before it zoomed into the helmet and started. The second thing is 343’s track record with large playlist. From ZERO BtB support in Halo 5, to the removal of 12 man teams in Warzone, placing a limit of six.
I do not know the answer to these two questions, and if anyone could shed some light on them I would be super appreciative of that.

I would like to add that the map looks large enough to be able to add more than 24 players.
These are great questions and I too hope we can get some clarification about it. Really hoping for ranked BtB that has Br starts. AR starts is fine for social playlists, but has never been for me. I wasn’t even thinking about it when it only showed 4 players at the start of a BtB match, feels like they might be pushing to only allow party’s of 4. Hoping that’s not the case, or we at least get a ranked btb playlist with the option to play with 12 friends.
There would be a riot if they capped fireteam sizes to 4. That being said, larger player counts per team increases the effectiveness of stacking really good players and makes it difficult to create fair matches.

I imagine that’s just because otherwise the animation would be too long scanning across 12 players and they’d need a different one to what they’ve already built to accommodate showing the whole team.
I don’t think there should be a cap but parties should have to wait a little longer to try and match with other parties. When a really sweaty 12 get together they basically ruin every game for every other player they come across. The games aren’t even remotely close.

I hope you’re right about the animation.
And honestly most large teams dont want to play against a group of randoms either. It’s not that fun.
But it seems that the only group to ever suffer in large TEAM playlists are the teams themselves. I get it’s no fun for a solo player in a large team playlist, but I feel it’s on 343 to find a true fix. Not punish the team.

No idea. I would not mind it to be limited to 6 or 8 if there is a limit. The only reason I support limits is because BTB is meant to be a super social mode and unfortunetly, people get very toxic in their gameplay style once they can fill a full 8 (past btb) or 12 (warzone). Who knows though, if theres a limit, fine, if not, fine. I personally couldnt careless (though I understand if others disagree with me here)

I dont. Starting with long range precision weapons in btb has always been terrible. Seems this btb is meant to really push players to use the sandbox. Why do that when I have the BR at ALL times.

I don’t understand where this notion of BtB soley being a social playlist comes from? And again as I stated, it should be on 343 to fix matchmaking, not just punish teams by removing large teams from gameplay.
Some of the best times I have had in Halo were in ranked BtB.

If I don’t have a team I go play solo or duos or arena. It’s simple. But yet solos come into a playlist called Big TEAM battle and complain about a lack of a team and demand limits be placed on the size of a team in a game mode that was created for large teams.
So it just doesn’t make sense to me.

Its always been a social playlist. Its a mode design for chaos and nonsense to happen. You can play it with the want to win sure, but its not a mode thats designed to be hyper competative. Thats like calling conquest in battlefield (an extreme example) as competative.
Also, most people that play btb are prob solos or duos. Saying “oh you dont have a team so you cant play” is grade school BS. We are not 4. If you want to play in a competative environment then play modes that are competativly focused. If you just want to play (even if your goal is still to win) play anything thats in social, including btb. Competative works when variables are removed and things are more controlled. BTB doesnt work with thatmind set

Again, every single mode has a social and competitive playlist. Nothing to say BtB cannot. And if you believe that BtB has always been social then you are seriously mistaken. Halo 2 launched with ranked BtB.
Also no where did I say “you don’t have a team so you cannot play”. So please don’t twist my words. I stated I don’t go into a singles playlist demanding a team. But yet singles go into a team playlist demanding teams be removed.
Lastly I have continually stated that this is on 343 to fix matchmaking. I’m not actively trying to prevent any single set of players from playing. But you are in fact advocating that.
