After trying out the MP beta I instantly noticed they seem to have changed what Big Team Battles is. I have nothing wrong with adding in new modes but if they are going to be removing the old classic BTB we love and replacing it with this new version I’m going to be playing a lot less BTB. I personally enjoy the new BTB to some extend, mainly only because of the high player count though. I would much rather play the old classic 8v8 BTB we all already adore. Has anyone heard if this new BTB will be replacing the old BTB?
Other than the player count, what don’t you like?
I dislike that they changed how the vehicles spawn. BTB used to have all the vehicles on the map at the start of the match and they would have respawn timers which allowed for significantly more vehicle usage and overall fun.
With the current BTB I’m now lucky to get in any vehicle that isn’t a warthog or mongoose, which has drastically reduced the amount of vehicles able to be used in a match and in hence the fun.
I also dislike how you are forced into a “squad” which shows up as green player names as it’s becomes even more jarring than seeing just constant blue names. Although I understand people who play Battlefield would probably like this copy cat feature.
Also I’m on the fence about the 12v12 player count as it seems to lead to more group pushes vs 1 player which in hence heavily coaxes a specific style of play, which leads to less diverse gameplay encounters. Then on the other hand it can sometimes be more chaotic/action heavy and in hence fun but I’d have to say the negatives are outweighing the positive.
I agree whole heartedly. It’s not the end of the world but this isn’t BTB it’s Warzone-lite.
Agreed. They should have called this “carnage” and had it as a separate game type. There’s elements to it that could be fun but overall it doesn’t touch the classic BTB, in my opinion.
They also don’t put you and your friends in the same squad in BTB. Kinda strange is it not.
I’ve played a lot of Halo 3 big team recently, and honeslty vehicle carnage really isn’t that big of a deal mostly. Longshore, rats nest, last resort and standoff don’t have a single heavy vehicle on them. Sandtrap just has the banshee, and with two lasers on the map it rarely gets much, if any, play. Definitely none at the beginning of the match, getting in it is almost guaranteed death. Avalanche and valhalla are the only two maps with more than 1 heavy vehicle spawn, and even then its usually just the banshee/hornet, the wraiths only spawn in slayer. I definitely feel like vehicles are having more impact in Infinite than I have in Halo 3.
I submitted a support ticket about this because it seems like a bug. It doesn’t make sense that my fireteam in the lobby is not the same as my fireteam in the match.
It definitely seems broken to me to make a fireteam with my friends and then go into a match and have totally different people in my fireteam. Why do I care about identifying random teammates over other random teammates?
I want to be able to quickly identify the friends that I am actually trying to make a fireteam with. Otherwise the whole fireteam concept seems pointless.
I am 100% with you matey and have also filed a support ticket.
