This is exactly why we shouldnt have br starts. Isnt tactical slayer just campers all the time? Br starts would literally just be both teams camping their base. Sounds like a skill issue to me, prefer to pick them off from afar because if someone is actually shooting at you you dont stand a chance.
Btb needs a number of things, not least of which is more weapons on the map in nonrandom locations. As is, I feel forced to rush to the nearest rifle box everytime I spawn, lest I have to helplessly get beamed from across the map with nothing but the bloom pistol to shoot back with. If the box is on cooldown, the best thing to do is usually to camp the box until it comes up, because there usually isn’t another useful weapon anywhere nearby and the maps are designed almost entirely around wide lanes with long sightlines and minimal cover. Get caught out with your spawn guns and you’re pretty much screwed.
Br spawns would probably help somewhat, but there is still the problem of the br being so strong and easy to use, shutting out the stalker and even the shock rifle in most cases (shock is god tier but the reticle is miserable to use when you get kicked from scope outside of cqb). Meanwhile the commando and pistol are complete trash due to bloom. Everything else is either on power spawns or only good in close, in which case the ar is probably better.
Um no, I hold my own just fine, actually more than fine lol (people usually quit). At this point I don’t play anything besides Ranked because it’s the only normal game type with Battle Rifle starts and it’s the only game type I can actually enjoy, but because of maps being lack luster that too is stale and I’ve already gotten Onyx twice (granted by tomorrow I’ll have to do it all over again for no reward anyway). Assault Rifle game types are a snowball effect with 90% of people just running at each other and either trading with the Assault Rifle or trading with melees and I hate to break it to you, but that’s not fun, that’s boring. I don’t want a garden hose in my hand to spray across the map or a pea shooter that can’t shoot to kill somebody in one clip across the map in a timely manner. Battle Rifle starts make sense on huge maps. Now, if you wanna play Assault Rifles in 4v4 for some odd reason be my guest, I won’t stop you, but you won’t find me playing it.
No. Br starts would only make btb camp fest. Thats not fun, thats boring. Br campers are already annoying enough. You dont even have to strafe. Ar starts are 100% fine and i honestly think that people who want br starts are usually campers who just sit on top of a mountain or building. Thats not skill. The game would be so much more frustrating if btb maps punish you for leaving your spawn, getting laser beamed from across the map because everyone has a br. If anything must change about the br it needs to be nerfed. We dont need to start with a br given how powerful it is. The only reason you want br starts is because you suck at using other guns. Its literally a noob gun.
The Battle Rifle is not a “noob gun” that’s why it’s in ranked…… the Assault Rifle is literally a noob friendly weapon, it’s standard use is to rush and hold down the trigger lol. Also, the only real reason half the people camp in a given area with the Battle Rifle is BECAUSE they don’t spawn with one they’re so scarce that if you’re stuck thinking “If I leave this spot and and run out of ammo or worse, die, I might not get this back any time soon” that’s what goes through my head. Not having a Battle Rifle off spawn actually encourages me NOT to leave my own base which is the exact opposite of what you want in a Capture The Flag game that you’re supposed to go and steal the enemy team’s flag. I guess I’ll never understand the urge to want to spray aimlessly at somebody across the map , I’ve never been much of a casual, I’m a competitive player and as such only want precision weapon starts.
Sorry to break it to you, but the majority of players are casual. And just because you only want to use the br doesnt mean we should force everyone to. If youre a competitive player then just play ranked, why are you trying to force everyone to play like tryhards. And yes, the br is a noob weapon. People like to push the idea that it takes so much skill to use, how? It has high damage, long range, no bloom, no recoil. You can kill up to 3 full health players without reloading, while most other guns take over half a mag in perfect conditions for a single kill. The gun has no drawbacks. Ar, high rate of fire, large mag low damage, high bloom, close range. Commando, high rate of fire, short mag, massive bloom and recoil, mid range. Sidekick, good damage, high rate of fire, bloom, close to mid range. But the br, large mag, high damage, long range, no bloom, no recoil. So you take the pros and remove the cons of ar, commando, and sidekick, and you get the br. The only reasons people want to spawn with the br is because its so powerful that i literally laugh everytime i kill a br camper, and make fun of how many br campers at one time it takes to kill me. We might as well have sniper, spanker or sword as default weapons. Why does it take so much skill to use if it has the pros of most unsc weapons, and none of the cons? Thats why its a noob weapon.
Dude, the Battle Rifle is a precision weapon, you have to actually land every bullet in that 3 round burst for every trigger pull to even end up with 3 kills. If landed properly it’s a 4 shot kill always has been and always will be it’s the standard we expect. Now one thing I’ll say is that especially back in Halo 2 the Battle Rifle was absolutely not a noob weapon, it was a massive tool of destruction. The Halo 2 Battle Rifle basically had the capability to be a semi-long range weapon, a shotgun, or an LMG when in the right hands (thank you button combos, I miss stuff like that so much) and it only added to the skill gap in the game itself because if you didn’t know about it you were screwed and that’s on you lol. The Battle Rifle in Halo Infinite isn’t even close to the Halo 2 Battle Rifle, but it’s still far better than using a pea shooter like the Sidekick that can’t do anything even half way across a map like Live Fire let alone a massive BTB map. BTB has been fine in every Halo game from Halo 2 until now and it’s been BR/DMR starts in all those games.
BTB isn’t the only thing I get irritated about Assault Rifle/Pistol starts for though, I also get irritated with Team Slayer and FFA Slayer. Those are 2 game modes I typically like to play the most in previous Halo titles, but now I feel I’ve been forced out because it’s no longer any fun. I basically win just about every single game whether it’s Battle Rifle starts or Assault Rifle/Pistol starts it doesn’t matter, but the difference is that I don’t actually enjoy playing the Assault Rifle/Pistol games. There should be 2 different playlists that are exactly the same besides the starting weapons and I could live with that.
So the reason its not a noob weapon is because it is so powerful that you cannot have any fun if you dont have one. That sounds like a skill issue. I dont understand how the br takes so much skill to use and is so fun to use but all people do is camp with it. You dont have to strafe, you just put your crosshair on the enemy player and the aim assist will do the rest and spam the trigger button. I hope people will realize that maybe the reason they are a 1000 iq pro master of the game isnt because they are skilled but because the br is op. I am grateful 343 isnt catering to this skill cult br spammers made. I appreciate 343 for the fact they didnt doom every weapons usefulness by having br starts. All weapons would be useless, because again the br has all the pros and none of the cons. And people talk about this “sandbox” or “arena shooter” that is supposed to encourage players to find gadgets. Lol…
Honestly, the more you talk about hating Battle Rifles or just people playing with the Battle Rifle the more I wonder how many times you’ve lost a BR battle in older Halo games or even just Halo Infinite and have just come to hate people for it lol. I don’t know what kind of players you’re playing against that don’t strafe, but that just seems like a dumb decision sounds like you’re playing against bots or just players who overall aren’t good, which is fine, not everyone can be a god, but I’m just saying. Also, your strafe can be very dependent on the outcome of a BR battle especially in a game like Halo 2 or Halo 3, more so Halo 3 since the projectiles are slower and you need to lead shots. There’s a reason people ghandi-hop (spam crouch in the air) while in a BR battle in older games, because it makes you harder to get a headshot on and your head and body as a whole sort of glitch up and down. The Battle Rifle isn’t a laser beam in those games either, that would mean it’s hitscan and it’s definitely not the case just look at Halo 3 alone as an example and how much you need to lead your shots to hit someone from across the map in BTB or a far distance in 4v4 because it’s a lot… your reticle won’t even be on the guy anymore after a certain point. Believe it or not you actually need to lead your shot with the Halo Infinite Battle Rifle at longer ranges, albeit not nearly as much as you do in Halo 3, you won’t really notice it until you’re playing BTB and barely notice it on a map like Behemoth when shooting from all the way on the other side of the map like from the back of a base all the way to the back of the opposite base.
The Battle Rifle does have pros and cons just like any other gun, the difference is that it’s a semi-close to semi-long range weapon which is a fairly wide spectrum, but it’s balanced around being a competitive primary weapon which nearly everyone universally wanted to return so of course it’s going to be good, I’d be pissed if it wasn’t. I couldn’t stand the Halo 5 Assault Rifle and Magnum for HCS, after the last patch made to Halo 5 a Magnum had more range than a Battle Rifle which shouldn’t be the case, it’s in the name, Battle RIFLE, this isn’t Halo: Combat Evolved which gets a free pass for the simple fact that the Battle Rifle didn’t exist until Halo 2. To get back on topic though, the pros and cons of the Battle Rifle exist. it doesn’t shoot very fast as it’s burst fire, it has vertical recoil that bumps your shots up and pros being that it has a fairly wide spectrum of range and it’s a 4 shot kill if all shots land.
My opinion? I have to disagree, friend. The thing of it is, when people are given weapons like AR’s, they often will seek out something that has more range and is more precise (like a BR or a Sniper of some sort). But if you give everyone BR’s, then it’s basically just a gorge fight where everyone keeps doing the poke and dodge method of getting kills.
No need to move about the map when you can literally dome people with a 3 round burst from spawn. If they move at all it’s just to the first area outside of spawn and everyone more or less just hides around, waiting for some poor soul who hasn’t a clue to run out and get pelted to death with bullets.
If that’s all the players do, then the next collection of posts will be ‘boring map design doesn’t incentivize people to play, just camp’ or ‘BR starts has turned BTB into a slogfest of poke damage’.
That being said, if they ever add BTB Heavies, I could see BR’s being a bit more present as a starting weapon since you’re going to be combating people both on the ground and in heavy vehicles. An AR might not fit very well there.
So what your saying is that you want to increase the gap even more then they already are. So Halo Infinite turns into just another plain stale game like mcc content where a player doesn’t have any remote chance of getting multiple kills with every weapon in the game without going constant frustration.
That type of thinking is why cod does better than Halo in population and gameplay experience. Because Halo has no flavor to its weapon sandbox experience and since your force to always use certain weapons the game becomes stale gameplay overtime. Which isn’t fun in the slightest bit. Sorry but a game needs more than just the same thing over and over again. It needs to give the player a chance to try out something new and different.
Now I wouldn’t mind seeing BTB BR or SR Starts in Rank Matchmaking with no motion sensor, classic CTF gametype, and powerful weapons on map.
But not in Social Matchmaking where it’s supposed to be chill and lay back type gameplay.
