I haven’t seen any recent mention of progress re: fixes to issues with getting matches going in BTB.
What’s even the issue, anyway? I’m kind of illiterate when it comes to netcode and “stuff” but something seems to still be off a bit because it’s not uncommon to spend as much time searching for a match as playing.
Size, scale, and vehicular combat are where this game really shines! Would love to see a slayer/objective split in the playlists.
It’s funny that it worked in the beta but now is broken. To paraphrase 343 they said they are watching and will update us with more information at the beginning of the new year. Because you know, priorities

And yea, not gonna lie, I do expect the xmas response. Holidays seem to mean a whole different thing for game developers than any employer I have ever had in my life because things really come to a screeching halt for more than just 24-48 hours.
Yea I just don’t understand how this has not been fixed yet. Feels like this has been going on around a week now ? Longer maybe ? I took a break from the game and just fired it up and used a double xp to play some btb and instantly got repeating errors.
Tried to search for fiesta instead and got a loading screen that never ended. Pretty frustrating tbh after just playing halo mcc for an hour with no problems. Like … wtf is going on with this game.
I don’t think it has issues with matchmaking itself - that seems to work. The connection is getting dropped when people are connecting to the servers or launching into the game. At least if the messages displayed at the bottom have anything to do with what’s actually happening behind the scenes.
On the other hand they tried to fix it by reducing the fireteam size that could queue for BTB from 12 to 10 although without any luck so they reverted that change.
Given that the issue started when they added the additional Slayer playlists, I’m tempted to guess that the servers took issue with the extra playlists but I have no idea how exactly that would influence them.
All that being said - that’s likely to be the most severe issue right now because it literally means that you need several tries to get into a game and matchmaking also seems to be quite bad due to this (I’m currently seeing teams being steamrolled time and time again).
As for the other playlists - those have worked without any issue during the last week - for me at least.
