They have decreased the vote option data on those maps twice now, but with only 5 maps and 3 vote options they will always end up as a vote option. The playlist does need new maps asap in order to fix it, Complex could easily be added and later on we could have some Forge maps. I’m pretty sure 343 could get som really good maps from the members over at BTB.net
Exile does need to be limited but I barely ever see Rag show up as an option to vote. What needs to be changed is the voting system, once a map has been played twice in a row it needs to stop showing up in the vote for at least 2 games.
I say go back to the Halo 2 style, no voting, no vetoing, you get what you are given. I had a much more varied experience back then, than in any of the subsequent games.
Thing is, I love Ragnarok as a map, I really do. It’s the new gameplay that makes the map unplayable. Everybody camps and if you move, you’re dead. The DMR completely ruins this map, as it almost does the entire game. Thanks to PP’s and sticky nades the vehicles are also useless, so that’s one more reason to just camp. And finally, why would you go out of your way to acquire a power weapon, when it’s much easier to just camp the -Yoink- out of your enemies and keep getting those sniper/beam/binary rifles from your care packages and just stay where you are.
It’s not that bad on all maps, though, because they are made for different gameplay. I always vote for Meltdown if possible, and I love the Shatter and Wreckage from the Crimson map pack. I think those are pretty nice maps to play on. The best thing about Shatter is that the Mantis is so well balanced in that map, whereas in Ragnarok you can dominate the entire map with it, unless you’re playing against a bunch of dudes who actually know what they are doing.
Ragnarok has become one those maps from which I instantly quit. Adrift and Complex are already on that list, if I’m playing SWAT. I can tolerate Adrift in other game modes and Complex in CTF…
I would ask why Complex and Shatter don’t have Warthogs, but I realize it wouldn’t make a difference 'cause Halo’s most important vehicle is nowadays useless anyway…
