Ok lets show our support, Im agree to try BTB with magnum and AR starts :).

The halo 5 BR and the halo 2/3 BR are not even close to the same thing as far as gameplay, the magnum is halo 5s utility weapon, past games balancing choices are irrelevant to halo 5s balancing

But why?
Also because it would be fun and chaos, something that a social playlist like BTB should have.
Haven’t played BTB in a LONG time, but yeah I would be all for AR/Magnum starts in BTB.
-Yoink- magnums.

Sorry to say, but the only reason Halo’s been BR starts is because Bungie didn’t really know how to properly balance a weapon sandbox, not nearly as well as 343 does in 5, at least.

Yeah, because Halo 2 and Halo 3 had an overpowered BR as the utility weapon that broke the sandbox and, with help from dual-wielding, broke the sandbox, every game should do the same thing!
Halo 5’s utility weapon is not the BR, it’s the magnum. The Halo 5 sandbox was created based around the magnum, not the BR. Every map in BTB was built for and tested with magnum/AR. Just because two of the worst offenders of Halo sandbox balancing had BRs as the starting weapon doesn’t mean every Halo game should.
Sprint has done absolutely to BTB, you’re just trying to find an excuse to remove it.

You’re the delusional one if you think it’s just the fact that the BR is a hitscan weapon that vehicles are useless. The BR has been a hitscan weapon in every Halo game save for Halo 3 and vehicles did just fine in those games. You need to do more research because right now you have nothing to support you while I have quotes from forgers, facts, and videos supporting magnum starts.

How is the gameplay different from Halo 2/3 BTB and Halo 5 BTB? Also what proof do you have that the magnum would be better overall in BTB than the BR considering they are both utility weapons, however 1 being better than the other statistically, so why would you give a player the worse one to start out with that has clear disadvantages on maps as large as the BTB maps in Halo 5? Once a player picks up a BR in BTB if it was Magnum starts, that player with the BR would have a massive advantage at far ranges. The only solution would be to remove ALL precision weapon pickups, thus reducing the sandbox.

Why does the h5 play different than the h2 and h3? Well the big one is h2 and h3 used it as a starting weapon and was built around it where as h5 it isn’t. The previous versions were also not as easy. Again, the magnetism and RRR makes even long range far easier than previous games. The BR can be used long range, I have no issue with that, but h5s version is a lot easier to do so where it just doesn’t fit being a starting weapon. It causes more issues that outweigh the positives. Have you looked into perfect kill times? You’d see h5s numbers are considerably higher, and the reason is cuz it’s so much easier to do it. You earlier brought up how it being easy would actually increase skill gap as it puts more emphasis on not missing. My rubbutal is how would that work if no one can miss to begin with? The weapon aims for you…you have to be absolutely awful to miss. Decent players won’t run into that issue. The magnum fits better because it’s harder to use and perfect kill times won’t be near as high as a BR is. It benefits the better player in individual play.
I can agree on it needing to be fun and chaotic if you’re going for the social aspect with no tryharding necessary, but the awful spawning would not be fun to tolerate.

“Overpowered”. The fact that the BR was good in ever situation if the player had skilled made it a weapon that made sense to learn how to use. Also by the definition of utility, Halo 5’s BR can be a utility weapon. (Definition of Utility- useful, especially through being able to perform several functions). Since when has any sandbox been around 1 weapon? If Halo 5’s has been created around 1 weapon, then it is flawed. Also the BR can easily replace the magnum, and even in testing, it would make more sense to have it as a starting weapon due to the longer sight lines and balance, since the magnum is restricted at longer ranges. BRs and other longer range precision weapons would completely outclass the magnum, so the magnum wouldn’t be the utility weapon you claim it to be. And so you claim Halo 2 and 3 had the worst sandboxes, but Halo 5 has such a limited sandbox that we only use some of the weapon in the game. Amazing argument though.
Sprint has done absolutely (what) to BTB? Yeah and there is much evidence to remove Sprint, unlike removing BR starts in BTB.

But in Halo 2 the BR was easier to use than in Halo 5. Halo 3’s were projectiles but it was very easy to win many long range gunfights. The difference is that it all depends on who you are fighting against. In Halo 2 if you had a pistol and the other player had a BR at long range it would be a big difference. The same problem would exist to a lesser extent, but it would still be enough for the BR to overpower multiple magnum users at range. In BTB, this would put the focus on finding a BR just to have a chance at winning a gunfight. This is the problem with magnum starts in BTB. You are completely neglecting this problem when you compare Halo 5 to previous Halos and the BR with the magnum. The Magnum isn’t the best “utility” weapon, neither is the BR, but the BR is better overall for the maps being played in BTB. Getting rid of the BR could have a very negative effect on the playlist. My point is that having an easier weapon to use at longer ranges would allow for a more fair game for players in BTB. Sure the BR is easier to use. Sure it may have more aim assist and other mechanics than the magnum, but the gameplay is much better suited for BR starts in BTB than magnum starts because BRs could demolish magnums at the ranges that Halo 5 BTB maps are set. A Carbine or BR on the Standoff remake could cause a spawn lock where one team can’t even leave their spawn because they can’t be accurate enough to take down 1+ Carbines or BRs. Even if a BR spawned in the base, it would still take minutes just to have a counter push out of the base. There is nothing skillful about getting stuck in an area because you can’t fight back without being at such a disadvantage. If skill is not a factor in play, the team with the more BRs throughout the game in BTB will win the match because they can control the engagements of opponents to longer ranges. Something being harder to use in BTB would actually ruin the entire playlist because of what I mentioned.

And the facts that support any of this are… where? You make one point, then move onto another without backing the other up. Where’s the research that proves all of this? That’s all I’ve ever seen from people who try to say that BR starts should stay. Just random, subjective opinions and BS. No facts supporting them at all. I can pull up a video, several quotes from forgers, and facts that support magnum starts. What can you show me that shows you’ve done research that can support your side? Because right now this is a very one-sided argument.
And going by your idea of a utility weapon, we could make anything a utility weapon because the entire sandbox of Halo 5 aside from the boltshot is a useful weapon.
A utility weapon is a weapon that has ammo commonly found on a map, easy to use, but hard to master. It’s all about independent empowerment. It’s not just something that’s useful, it’s something that while you can pick up and get a kill, you still need to practice and understand to use it properly. You pick up a magnum in Halo 5 and you can get some kills but you still need to learn how to use it. Different techniques and counters. You pick up a BR in Halo 5 and you become a demi-god.

What was not properly balanced in Bungie’s Halo games that resulted in BR starts? I am actually curious.

because the point of the starter weapon is that you want to drop it for something else, if you already have a weapon that’s better than half the sandbox for the environments you’re fighting in (large expanses, clear sightlines) the game just stalemates out because no one has to move anywhere or do anything.

And you have no facts either demanding facts. You say the BR isn’t the utility weapon, but it is actually a better utility weapon than the magnum based off of the definition of the word. Fact.
My idea of a utility weapon is a weapon good at the most ranges, aka SEVERAL FUNCTIONS. So basically any precision rifles like the Carbine, BR, DMR, and Light Rifle.
So how is the BR not part of your(opinion) definition of a utility weapon. Ammo is commonly found on the map. It is easy to use and hard to master, assuming master is how to gain an advantage using it and how to be effective with it. Next sentence still matches what a BR does and requires. The magnum is hard to use and takes more skill to use, thus going against what you just said about a weapon being easy to use and hard to master. Also since you agree that picking up a BR in Halo makes it easier, wouldn’t it make sense in BTB that having everyone with a BR would make the game balanced? Probably not because you just want to be the “demi-god” destroying helpless magnum users in BTB. I get it. You can’t outgun other BR users so you need to have a range and less shot advantage.

Just because two of the worst offenders of Halo sandbox balancing had BRs as the starting weapon doesn’t mean every Halo game should.

> >
>
>
>
>
Refer to my post on page one for literally everything you’ve said. From my ‘lack of facts’ to your idea of a utility weapon.

> What was not properly balanced in Bungie’s Halo games that resulted in BR starts? I am actually curious.
the sandbox was stagnant, you didn’t need or even want to pick up any other weapon sans a rocket launcher because the BR was the barnone top of the food chain of non power weapon pick ups and you spawned with it.
For an arena shooter, that’s super egregious, as a bad sandbox means map movement is usually terrible as well.

So you say. Which weapons are worse then the BR that were not worse than the magnum. Also stalemates are what happens when you get pushed into your spawn but you don’t want to give up, so you sit in there waiting for your enemies to come to you. This would happen more often if magnums were starting weapons in BTB because the ranges benefit BRs and other precision weapons. They would have to put a BR up every 10 seconds to make it fair for any team, but at that point why not just give everyone a BR, and we are back to square one. Or you can take my other suggestion and just remove all precision weapons from the map so that the Magnum is the only weapon that way stalemates would be the same as when there was BR starts.

the BR is better than pretty much every other precision weapon at mid range, the DMR and Light rifle are slightly better at longer ranges and the Carbine is slightly better at closer ones, but it’s much more adaptable than those 3, meaning you can take it into other scenarios and still do fine while still excelling at mid range combat with is 90% of BTB firefights.
You do realize that proper map control rewards you with weapon pick ups, right? if you’re getting -Yoinked!- by the other team because you can’t rotate properly, that’s your own damn fault, maybe next time you’ll remember where and when weapons spawn so you don’t get boned out of the gate.
BR starts are a crutch for bad players, in exactly the way you described it.
