BTB is ROUGH

BTB has experienced a drastic change from past games, and in my opinion it’s not a good one. It went from one of my favorite playlists to one I will rarely touch.

BTB used to always be about vehicle control in the same way that normal slayer was about weapon control. Most BTB maps had scorpions, wraiths, and banshees. Nowadays most BTB maps are lacking all of these, and the ones that do have them usually only have 1 rather than 1 for each team. This leads to whichever team does not get the sole power-vehicle to teamshot it so fast that it can barely do anything, especially with the banshee.

Where did the scorpions go? What happened to both sides getting 1 tank and having epic tank battles while players on foot tried to support and fight over the few anti-vehicle weapons?

Instead, BTB has turned into what can only be described as a BR campfest where players sit around and cross-map with the BR the whole game. Most maps only have ghosts, warthogs, and mongooses. The ghost can do some damage, but the BRs and ease of shooting people out of warthogs and mongooses render them basically useless. The maps are also often VERY open, which makes me feel like they were designed with the idea of being transversed by vehicle, but the idea in reality fails for the reasons just mentioned and leads to the game being even more campy.

Does anyone else agree with me on this? I just want SOME BTB maps that are truly about vehicle control like in the olden days to reduce the BR campfest that the game mode currently is.

Bad forge maps, long distance br’s, not many vehicle fest in btb is what killed btb. They want you to play warzone so you can pour money into it, plain and simple. Here lies the cancer that is micro-transactions

Yeah it’s gotten bad… use to love BTB and i felt that it was the heart of halo, but feels like 343 only put it in to shut us up. They want everyone playing warzone and maybe spend money on reqs. The last nail in the coffin for me was seeing the map andy’s room was going to be a btb map. Now don’t get me wrong that would be a good map… for custom games not a main playlist though. Feels like 343 isn’t even trying anymore.

The maps kill it, I think. Half of them don’t play like BTB maps, and have the absolute minimum in vehicle combat. Especially Fracture. Listen, if I could somehow get over Deadlock, but Fracture still irks me, then it means that there is something wrong. That is literally the only map in this game I don’t like.

When did 343 say they were adding in Andy’s Room forge map to BTB? Don’t think I’ve ever seen where they did.

Yeah, I feel like the BTB maps are too afraid to utilize all the amazing vehicle options. A few maps had Scorpions/Mantis’ at first, but were later removed. Adding Phaetons would be cool too as long as there were sufficient anti-air options on the ground.

Like a previous post said, if BB was really good you wouldn’t play warzone. If you don’t play warzone they don’t rake in the cash from reqs. So they sabotaged BTB. Actually they didn’t even do that, they did nothing and let community forge fans make the maps.

If they went to AR/Pistol starts I think btb would dramatically improve. I think the multi-team with pistol starts on the btb maps make it play soo much better.

Yes, I completely agree with you on this. My favorite thing to do in Halo WAS BTB and get a ghost and go on splater sprees. Now the ghost is practically useless, along with almost every other vehicle. I can be destroyed with a clip of a magnum in a ghost, and in order for me to splatter someone I have to boost halfway across the map to build up enough steam. BTB as we know and love it is dead and that is 343’s fault. They put more emphasis on Warzone, I guess, hoping to replace BTB.

I love H5 and the game that 343 made, but they destroyed my favorite game type.

Yes I completely agree; they need to add heavy vehicles back into btb. It feels different without them.

I can’t disagree with you on this one, but since Warzone turns out to be everything that I ever wanted BTB to be - everything I ever wanted multiplayer to be - then I really am not feeling the pain like you are. There is no BTB map in the history of Halo that can hold a candle to the worst warzone map (imo), there is no BTB map that ever handled vehicular game play as well as warzone maps do (imo), and there is absolutely no need to ever spend real money to buy anything for use in warzone (again, imo). Warzone is the new BTB. BTB is the new Team Slayer. Team Slayer is the new Dubs. Etc. Etc. Etc.

it does definetly feel different…i used to never play BTB but now i spend about half my time there because its the only playlist to actually have BR starts and maps that are actually in proportion with the mobility…not saying its how it should be or anything…the 4v4 ar pistol spartan ability cheese fest has just become a bit of a bland nightmare for me

Disagree whole heartedly with op. I think the balance is great.

I would loathe a return to the days of btb heavies or gauss hogs with no counters.

Vehicles can swing matches, particularly slayer, but aren’t the only way.

I’ve just been playing the MCC these last couple of days and I have to say they put Halo 5 to shame. I haven’t had as much fun in all my time on Halo 5 as I did in a game of BTB slayer on Halo 3 Sandtrap last night. It’s sad really, and the fanboys will defend it to the end, not realizing that they are what is killing the series.

Same as the last complaint forum about bad spawns. Maps are too small.

The maps, for me, just play like big 4v4 maps. What happened to the massive maps like Spire? Boneyard? Sandtrap? (Oh wait, that one got scaled down, RIP Elephants)
