I’m not complaining because I’m bad. I’m one of those guys who gets 20-30 kills in btb. But at least 80% of my btb games this week (I play a good few a day) have either been full of 3+ idlers, quitters, or betrayers. When it’s not that, it’s a stacked team of tier 2-4s insta spawnkilling the enemy until they all quit, and then finally after 4-6 of those types of games you get a normal btb game. Maybe even 2-3 in a row. Then back to the majority of this toxic garbage.
Honestly, I don’t know what can be done about this. When I see something bad enough like betrayers or griefers, I’ll record it and send it to support.halowaypoint.com. It takes a while, but I at least know they get to it… but I’ve checked the gamertags of some of the worst of these offenders over time and, if they were banned at all, it was negligible.
Is MP really dead? I don’t mind the sweat, that’s not what I’m talking about. The idling, quitting, betraying, griefing. Where are all of you coming from all of the sudden? I wish I was exaggerating when I say I literally cannot play the game. Ugh.

Been fairly normal for me, but I also don’t play as much since I can’t find as many games.
Betraying and griefing is never okay and should be dealt with (if done on purpose ofcourse, an accidental betrayal can happen and shouldn’t be punished).
But idling and quitting are often also a result of the lag that players encounter and the amount of laggy matches (in my experience) seem to be going up. If i have such a laggy match in social i often quit, since i will be of no use of my team (the lag makes it impossible for me to aim at enemies) and quitting so a lagfree players can be spawned in with JIP would be better for the team. And if they don’t leave (because they fear a quitban or need to complete that match for a challenge), they will just camp somewhere to not give away kills.
Earlier this week is was with a friend and watched him play a tactical slayer match where he had severe lag. He opted to hide (since he had to complete the match), in his team was a player who was way more skilled then everybody else in that match. That player first looked at my friend like ‘WTF are you doing?’, and when he typed in chat that he was hiding because of the lag, he was was very understanding and started to try to keep enemies away from those hiding spots he was in. In the end my friend even got complimented by that player for doing the right thing for the team and finding effective hiding spots (his team won by the way). It’s just a sad truth that halo infinite has become to this because of the server issues.
Another reason for quitters (but that is mostly not at the start of the match) is the lack of functioning SBMM. A lot of matches are either extremely one-sided and/or have extreme skillgaps within teams. People are just not having fun in those matches. And it’s not only players on the losing team who quit, even players on the winning team are quitting because they have no fun, since the extremely skilled player on their team is ‘stealing’ all the kills, so they could barely do anything. And ofcourse, you also have people here who don’t quit, but just camp somewhere to not be slaughtered the entire time.
Couldn’t even play ranked today. If I wasn’t matched up against a smurf squad dominating with their lvl 9 friend messing up MM, then I’m with a teamkiller who set out from the start to just grief my and my teammates shields with brute shots or power drains. I just can’t get a solid little streak of semi normal games. It is not the same level of BS that you normally deal with, I’m fine with 25% of games being trashed. Well I’m not, but I don’t think I would have made a post here, multiple reports, and complaints in the discord about it if it was that.
